Nylon February 2008 : The Kills by Marvin Scott Jarrett

unipine I signed up for that 10 month deal too.I called the nylon subscription offices today and they said they were finalizing the accounts and they should be enacted sometime later this week. But the girl who answered my call was some girl named Ruby and she didn't really seem like she knew what I was talking about when I asked her about the deal so I don't know.Hopefully we'll all be getting this issue soon.To me it looks fairly decent.

THE KILLS!! This issue sounds awesome and I'm so glad they chose London. The last "city" issue on LA was so boring.

I got the free subscription too but i got the issue in the mail just today, i took a few pictures (including the table of contents) for those of you who want to see a small preview of the issue..

I got the issue today too. It's fairly good.

I'm anxiously waiting for a Tokyo issue though.

^ A Tokyo issue would be cool! Ahhh, mine hasn't come yet! Can't wait for it!

So people actually got what they signed up for? I better be seeing a mag in the mail tommorrow. If not though, I'll probably actually want to buy this one.

ugh this looks terrible. It truly drives me insane that there is so much creativity in London and yet magazines like Nylon keep pushing to these so-called 'hip' people/scenes like Aggy, Gareth Pugh, Henry Holland, Boombox, etc. I recognize they have other people on their cover but it's so one dimensional. it's an image of London that they are propagating and it's really representative of only a super tiny portion of London's influential creative talent. There is life in London beyond E1/N1.

^ i completely agree. there is London style outside of Nu Rave, L.A. style outside of Cobrasnake, etc etc.

Seems interesting but I always get bummed about the rest of the issue which is
nothing special but than again they never
do anything thats too amazing.

oh, that's so very true...

i must say im quite excited for this issue though. london is my favourite city & hopefully it will be as good as the paris issue was a few years back

I was really excited when I saw the title...the kills! what a nice surprise.

But what a bad cover...ahh :( When is this going to end?

What a strange cover, so much white space

Thank you for posting!

I don't know why I keep subscribing to Nylon, I suppose I'm waiting for it to return to how it used to be. Now it's so 'rave' if that makes sense.

Totally makes sense! It makes me feel alienated and therefore I rarely buy it anymore because I'm not a nu-rave hipster nor to I want to be. I thought I had changed but it must be the magazine that changed because I never was that type and I used to like it. And I agree about this cover not drawing me in. It doesn't even make me want to flip through it at the bookstore without buying it.:innocent:

Its like they're saying he isn't as important... :ermm:
Do you not remember the Another magazine article that only had pictures of Allison (I think she was dating Jefferson at the time but whatever).

I HATE Nylon. Normal I don't even touch it our of fear of getting hipster but I will have to get this one. I just love the kills too much.

No, I have not seen that article. Its sad they only covered allison though. To be honest this is the first time i have ever heard of the Kills. Its just a pet peeve of mine when magazines cover bands (or other groups of some sort)and make one of the band members seem more important. Its a band, they're suppose to have a bond, they should be shown arm in arm, or in some other position showing that they're equals.

and on another note, I also signed up for the free subscription. i wasn't expecting it to come, but since some of you have received yours I better get a nylon in the mail! :judge:

something just gets me all tingly inside about free magazines. :p

I've always seen Jamie and Allison given the same amount of attention in magazine articles

who knows what's up with the cover

I like Nylon ,but I agree I would love to see them have a more diverse approach when it comes to fashion ,street style, etc.I have to admit I was bit disappointed with this issue.I saw all the names on the cover and expected at least interviews with a few of them but the majority of them were mentioned in tiny snippets.

But still it was a decent issue. The Uncommon People section at the back I thought was good.
