Off-White S/S 2023 Paris

There's nothing special about death but sometimes, when used as a mockery, it just strikes as so.. low.

I don't think there's anything remotely good about this anyway, and I don't understand the obsession fashion has with keeping labels running after the founder/designer is gone. And please spare me from the 'lots of employees, they make a living out of this, where would they go?~!'.. I don't know, to another job maybe? the way most people in most jobs would do if their workplace burns to the ground? let the capital and the labor flourish in new ventures, nothing horrible about it.

Also, why are people so drawn to Jenny Holzer and that same damn Jenny Holzer quote? does it really unlock something intellectually and politically every time someone reads it? come on. It just makes me think 'oh so you think that's cool, no wonder you designed this..'.

as much as I despised Virgil, I don’t see the point in this brand staying open. He did a great job at giving the appearance of it being deeply personal.

feels very hollow now. This could be any old new brand

This brand was always the height of amateurishness and pretentiousness, it still is and is likely to remain so as long as it’s open. Please stop it.

The belly windows are so awful that I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a trend among the taste-impeded.

^^^ If you keep in mind that this is to appeal to 15yos and 25yo hypebeasts who still have the sophistication and mentality of a 15yo, then this brand of design arrested development all makes sense.

Still terrible but like that it’s edited and doesn’t look poorly done as before.
Ib is not a designer and I don’t think that beyond filling his pockets, this position offers him so type of cachet.
Why keeping the brand alive? For the sense of legacy…
Black Americans, mostly in the hip-hop community value the idea of a brand they can call « their own » and that speaks to their culture in this kind of « luxury » market. Virgil wasn’t a great designer but this brand and what it represents can technically be a perfect canvas for who takes over.

They should hire Kerby Jean Raymond to reclaim a bit of hype. That’s what I associate the name OFF WHITE with…
