Olsenboye by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for J.C. Penney

Just because something is targeted for juniors doesn't mean it has to look ugly and cheap. At least pretend to put some care into making it look fashionable. Teen girl are much more savvy than they are being given credit for.

^ I agree. Any legit designer should know that teens aren't stupid. They want to be fashion forward, and never before have they been so fashion forward IMO. I don't get this "well it's for teens what do you expect" argument when Ashley herself said that people of all ages will wear the line (yeah right!) In the age of F21, and designers teaming up with Target and Macys, a line like this (IMO) will not impress teens.

^i agree with loldonna. i'm 29 years old and i still have quite a few garments from my junior days that are extremely well made and designed that ive kept (ie todd oldham's department store line, tommy hilfiger etc).

if i had a daughter i wouldnt want her wearing a garment that has the olsen twins name emblazoned on it with huge letters. she may get made fun of .

Well, I'm not going to write again what I previously wrote about that but, not all teens have a deep interest in fashion.

just in case anyone wants to get anything....everything is now 50-70% off.

:lol::lol::lol:

Just because something is supposed to be "mass market" doesn't mean it has to be devoid of all thought and creativity. I could find BETTER Juniors stuff in JCPenney's right now then this.

Not with all the douches that have ABERCROMBIE emblazoned on their ripped up to look "vintage" $50 shirt. She would look more of the same of the people who wear clothes for the name and not really the style and small details of the garment.

I still have stuff today that were nice things from my teens. I'm 21 now. Actually wearing something I found in my storage from highschool- muted leopard longsleeve tunic which I'm wearing with black leggings with rose etchings on them. I wore this when I was 15 and I don't look silly wearing it now as a woman though I think now my accessories with it are better, it's more sophisticated for an adult world than paired for cute casual comfort when I went to school.

Teens don't get enough credit in one aspect, but I still get why this kind of market works because there is still a want for it. I visited my old highschool and certainly noticed the types that get suckered into labels and kitch, the abercrombie army, the dooney girls, and such are still around but many many more nice dressers than when I was in highschool and that was just a few years ago, class of 2007. I see less Wet Seal and more Anthropology kind of stuff. I would leave that mass general market to the ones that established themselves for those girls who just are not as polished in taste at this point in their life , and give those that look up to MKA style access to that kind of clothes. Girls look up to them and want to be like them, this stuff is NOT the Olsens style and I can see that girls who like their style will not be buying this. I looked at the Miley Cyrus/Max Azria line at Walmart and I can see her wear it, I can see some things tweens can wear and a few pieces, I can see on someone in college look good in. It's still mass market, but more her style and bits that definitely was Max. The price too is good for a teen, the prices make sense for Wal Mart also- last night saw $20 dress that was a white tank with a tiered tulle it looks like- it was cute and something I would let my daughter wear and I would actually wear it to work. I would wear the black ruffled top with the skinny jeans in this pic to work. I havent touched the clothes though cuz I hate being in Wal Mart and just run in, but doesnt look like it's cheap quality for the price, but also obviously not the best either IMO. Looks about F21 quality.

Also the pricepoint of this Olsenboye is kinda outrageous. 100 lace up boots that look like I could get better ones at the army surplus. 50 dollar flats with nothing going on- I would go to TJ Maxx and Marshalls and find really similar flats for half the price and for $50 get some nice flats I could wear at work. $44 dollars for the peace logo hoodie- I rather go get a plain one at American Apparel for that price and paint on it myself or buy this boyfriend vest, the tier dress and the ruffled top and pants from Mileys line for the same price.

This comment sound eerily familiar to me because I was in Wal-mart this weekend and I know exactly the dress you are talking about. I actually paused to look at it because I thought I was cute. I laughed at your comment because I feel the same way about Wal-mart. I like to get in and out pretty quick.

i think olsenboye's pricing structure is a scam. and possibly illegal.

for example the combat boots that have a suggested retail price of 100$.:unsure:

were they ever even sold for that full amount in store? if they werent and jc penney/olsenboye is advertising it at 50-60% off this is illegal. the 100$ retail price seems totally artificially inflated to me.

the funny thing is, I called my local JCP store to see if they had the boots in store so I could try them on, and a snooty man on the phone said that they "didn't carry that line." O_o

oh and here are my boots in a dirty mirror:

they worked so hard on the row and e+j. why jcp? why now?

these are the spring lookbook images. but not all items here are "olsenboye" however (ie the sunglasses, bow etc)

the graphic t shirt with the green script looks similar to the Stephen Sprouse for Louis Vuitton graffitti print. it is the exact shade of green it seems.

Some of this is pretty cute (minus the second and last looks)

"Love in the City"? Please. I do not understand why people make graphic tees for tweens look so horrible. Is it just that tweens have horrible taste or is it that people think they do?

i think its supposed to be a PG way of saying "sex in the city" and besides that phrase is copyrighted.
