Pairing Shoes with Clothes Help Thread

Oh yeah, I probably should have mentioned that I'm 5'2", petite everywhere, and not blessed in the leg department.

I generally steer clear of pencil skirts because I'm short, so I'm not sure about that one.

I never even thought of colored socks, tights, or quirky dresses. All those are really cute.

I know how you feel; I'm 5'1" myself.

tashkent cole wedge boots in canvas

the natural answer is to wear these with skinny jeans or pants. can anyone think of more interesting ways to wear them?

I just bought these boots, in the light grey suede!! Ever since I saw Sienna Miller sport those Anna Oliveri Grey suede tie ankle boots, I've been sweating a similar pair ever since, and these look pretty similar IMO...:innocent:

In addition to skinny jeans, I think they would look great with a cute minidress or shift dress and tights...

thanks luckyme - and yes i am praying for NO dyeables!:yuk:

porkchop - i love those boots! and agree with the suggestions - skinny jeans, tights and dresses.

Just wanted to comment, they are not necessarily the end of the world, though you certainly can't wear them again--and why throw money away like that? For my sister's wedding, we wore emerald green raw silk, and raw silk shoes to match. The deal I had with my sister was, nothing I wore could be ugly--and none of it was. And for the record, though it was a beautiful dress (actually, top and long skirt), I was never able to do anything with it either.

If you can agree on gold, I don't see why you couldn't just all wear your own strappy sandals. Remember when the actresses on thirtysomething couldn't agree to wear the same dress (they were all completely different incl color), and that episode won the wardrobe Emmy? :ninja: :innocent:

one of my all time favorite shows. it was hip, clever and so very whiney. i don't remember who got married? Ellyn?

as usual, you have great visual ideas. gold strappy sandals and a dress of their choice (even if it is in the same color family) will keep everyone happy and most likely look the best.

karma for bring that show back to my memory. :flower:

You know, I remember the rainbow of dresses, but I'm not sure who got married ;) I think you may be right about Ellyn ...

I recently bought these shoes, but I'm having problems deciding what to wear it with.. i'ts kind of limiting because the shoe has a denim material on them.. but they're so unique, and comfortable, and I love them. They're brown leather, with funky cream constrast stitch and a cream leather bow

thanks fashionista - you are right, it is not the end of world....unlikely i will wear the dress again - and it is something you agree to when you agree to be a bridesmaids.
the bride decided on gold, but she wants us the wear the same shoe - with a short thick heel (which i will never wear again). mine are so close to the shoe she choose - so i am hoping i can wear my own. why do bridesmaids even have to wear the same shoe! :(
thanks for all the advice.....

What should I wear with these. I like them, but my mind draws a blank. I think I just wore a red top and a black pencil skirt last time with some gold jewelry.

Anyone have any interesting ideas for these?
They are red and black with some gold thread, I apologies for the craptacular cell phone pictures.

just recently paired these two together.

the dress was the cream version under the coat (the cut of the dress is the same as the black one)

I have just bough this dress
Chlopartydress.jpg
(pic from my-wardrobe.com) and it is darker and more green toned in reality. I have tried black shoes with it but they look a bit too harsh. What will go?

deborah, are you wearing it with black tights, if so a black ballerina flat might be cute. also, the new marc jacobs type oxford would be a great look.

I second the oxfords suggestion and also recommend any sort of grey-toned heel (or flat, whichever you prefer). If you're going without tights, a plain white pump might even look nice, such as this:

I second the grey toned idea. I was thinking a matte-ish light grey, since the dress already has sparkle to it. Although, as long as you carried it with confidence, you could probably do a silver shoe as well.

luckyme - i was going to ask you post a pic of the dries dress (after you mentioned it in the manolo thread)
love it - beautiful combo!

During the summer I think they would look great with a cream dress. :)

Ok.. Not the most exciting suggestion, but since the shoes themselves are so "busy" I think you need to wear something simple with them.

Ok so i have those shoes. I can wear it under a jeans but that to simple.
I don't like dresses of pants under a dress because my ankles are big.. thats my thoughts..

any suggestions?
