Pale / Fair Skin - What are your fave products?

City Bock does not provide sun protection unless you reapply every couple of hours. Waste of money IMO. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are OK if you're not having your photo taken and if you don't mind spending a ****load of cash because you'd need to repurchase once a month.

Chemical filters are way more efficient, waterproof and they last for ages, hence the once-a-day application.

all sunscreens -regardless of whether or not they have chemical or mineral filters and come in the form of creams, lotions, powders or cosmetics with added spf- need to be reapplied at least every 2 hours unless specified otherwise. However there are some sun creams on the market that can be worn for up to 8-10 hours without reapplication but you need to follow the directions carefully.

waterproof/water resistant sunscreens only give 30mins -1 hours protection after contact with water so they also need to be reapplied frequently.

As long as the Clinique City Block provides UVA/UVB broadspectrum protection then I dont see why you shouldn't use it. Just remember to follow the directions (they usually say apply it 15 mins before stepping outside) and reapply it every 2 hours (more often if it isn't water/sweat resistant)

Nope. There is one particular sunscreen that lasts for 10 hours straight. You just need to apply it, wait 20 mins, and then do whatever you want. Swim, sweat, whatever. I've used it all my life and I have never ever had a sunburn or a wrinkle.

I'd never waste my money on the Clinique city block. DAMN that must be expensive, reapplying every 2nd hour, and what about makeup? Most sunscreens are excellent primers, but how do you reapply without ruining your makeup? I guess a transparent spray with spf would be handy...but that's another product to spend money on. I think I'll stick to Riemann's P20.

may i ask you about the name of this product?! :flower:

^there are quite a few on the market. I use one by Boots Soltan but I have seen some by Coppertone, Riemann and Piz Buin (sp??) but I cant remember if they were specifically for the face. The Boots one I use is for the face, its slightly tinted so you dont get that white residue. During the summer I often skipped moisturiser all together and just wore this as I felt it was pretty moisturising.

hmm I already said there are some sunscreens that can last up to 10 hours.

So many beautiful recommendations laisla!:flower: I want all the lipsticks, they make me crave for fresh, spring makeup looks!
And I have to give it to L'oreal because they're one of the few high street brands that make really light color foundations. I swear by the True Match in C1..it's even lighter than NC15 in MAC, and provides amazing coverage for my oily skin.

what is this, I'd love to know! my current system is to just apply my moisturizer spf before I go out and then use my spf 15 (not enough but the best I can do)psysicians formula powder before I go back outside again.

and avoid direct sunlight as much as possible...

Piz Buin makes sun screens that are meant to last for 8 hours and longer. I use the brand a lot but I don't trust the promise and keep reapplying anyway so I don't know if it actually works.

Clinique's Even Better foundation in Alabaster. Now I'm evenly pale.

Any recommendations for concealer please? I need something for spots and blemishes, my skin is breaking out all over the place at the moment :(

normally I wouldnt recommend MAC for face products because Im not a fan but Select Moisturecover (if your skin is on the dry side) and Select Finish (great for oily skin) are both impressive. Estee Lauder's Double Wear is also pretty good.
If you're on a budget then Collection 2000s Lasting Perfection and Gosh Touch Up Concealer are excellent and even lighter than a lot of high end concealers. Both stay put for a long time too.

Girl About Town, I use the Estéé Lauder Double wear one for my blemishes, and it works great. But it's not that opaque that it would cover a terrible breakout. To cover that you would need something like the Vichy Dermablend foundation (which is apparently more like a concealer). I've never used that one but Lisa Eldridge raves about it all the time.

I've found that the new L'oreal Infalliable in Porcelain is actually pale enough and not TOO pink. Hurrah! A lasting foundation that isn't bright pink!

Same goes for the L'oreal infallible concealer in Vanilla. Covers my spots all the time!:D

Bobbi Brown makes concealers so pale that I can't even use them...that is pretty pale IMO

Piz Buin suncscreens smell pretty nice. Or was that their after sun lotion? I kinda wanna try something different, but why fix it if it aint broken? hum hum.

I would recommend the same. I haven't found a concealer I like better than hers.
I suppose, I'm so pale Bobbi Brown is one of the only brands I can use.
LORAC has very fair concealers as well. I just don't care for the texture. Too tacky for me.:ermm:
I've heard Becca makes great concealers and has some fair shades, but I've never seen them in person. I'm too scared to take the risk of buying online.

what's the mystery 8 hour sunscreen you mentioned before, I'm dying to know? I use spf but I can't always reapply every two hours!

^Riemann P20, she mentioned it in the original post  But several brands make "long lasting" sunscreens, although it's debatable how well their claims hold up.

I'd actually love a clear spray with SPF. Something you can just spray on without it ruining your makeup, and that you wouldn't need to rub in
