Model skin & body care tips / products

Models just push the brands they work for :innocent:

That being said Hydra Zen is great.

I disagree! Well, maybe I'd suggest you'd add: depending on your skin type.
I've got sensitive skin and even though hydra zen is supposed to be suitable "even for the most sensible skins" it made my skin burn like crazy! I had to call customer's service and fortunately they took the product back and gave me a refund (actually a sealed product that I could return and refund in the store I bought it in)...so at least lancome's customer's service is good :ninja:

These model tips and fav beauty products are from the free beauty magazine that comes out with the June UK Vogue 2011  thought i'd type it out and share with you guys!

Gisele Bundchen- The Brazilian model is renowed for her superfit body and healthy glow. Recreate her sun-and-surf
beauty tips from her hair and makeup team

The Essential Gisele

-Surfing in Costa Rica gives Gisele a beautiful tan naturally, but when i'm making up her body I finish her skin with a
touch of Chanel Tan de Chanel in Desert Corail and plenty of Jurlique Rose Body Care- Makeup artist Yumi Mori

-For her wedding Gisele did her own hair and make-up- it really wasn't a priority for her says hair stylist Harry Josh,
who has worked with the model for over 14 years and describes her look as "undone". Supplement what a nature has given you
with Viviscal tablets which Josh recommends to everyone-"Fish Oil really promotes hair growth" he explains.

- I created a tinted lipbalm for her as everything else tends to look too pink on her says make-up artist Rose Marie Swift.
I also use the lip tint to contour her cheeks instead of blush- it makes them look as if they've been pinched. Try RMS
lipshine in Moment

-Gisele works out at the Boston Kung Fu Tai Chai Institute. With tai chi you acquire balance through slow, steady
movements. Gisele's balance was already at a high level as a result of her ability to surf and she is a natural confirms
Joshua Grant, her tai chi trainer. She gets top marks with her kung teacher too- Gisele gives 100 percent to every workout,
everytime says Yao Li.

I just run round my apartment, but I never go to the gym as I'm scared people might watch me excercise. I'm not very good
at it!"

-"My aunty is a doctor. A Chinease body needs Chinease medicine, so she sends me Ban Lan Gen, a famous remedy that many
people in China drink when they have a fever or cold. She also gives me Vitamin C and E to keep my immune system healthy
with all the traveling i do"

-"Red Lips and black smoky eyes create a traditional Chinease glamour. I love mascara, too. Asian lashes are very short and

all over my body morning, noon & night.

-"On Photoshoots when i have my make-up artist Pat McGrath and hair Stylist Guido Paulo working on me, i always know i'm
going to be looking on point"

The Secret to Those Legs!"

- "When i first started modeling, i used to practise for shows by walking in a pair of seven-inch platform heels like the
ones drag queens and strippers wear. My mother and I used to laugh and I'd say "If i can walk in those, i can walk in
anything!" "

-" I would like to try kickboxing and circuit training because i don't do any excercise, apart from running around after

Kate Moss- The superstar model has lost none of her laidback allure. Here, her favourite hair and make-up arists
share the secrets to her offbeat beauty

powder in Medium Deep and Dark
under the cheekbones and on the temples. Finish with a pinky nude lipstick in Dior
Addict in Rose Deshabille

-"Kate knows how to take advice says Nicola Clarke her regular hair colorist. Once she suggested a hair colour like Bridgette
Bardot's but i said "You may have seen a really lovely black-and-white picture of her, but in reality her shade of blonde
would be too yellow for your skin tone" "

-"Kate's usual look is relaxed, chic and effortless, but on special occassions she will match the vibe of her dress with a
more risque make-up look which is always very inspiring. For example, the Twenties-inspired colbalt smoky eyes she had for

Angela Lindvall has a page in the new issue of UK Marie Claire July 2011 with Jennifer Lawrence on the cover.

it's just her explaining her 10 beauty rules, i took a snap of the article- its nothing special- the pic is old i think, but i took a pic.

i also have typed out the interview incase it's too hard to read on the pic.

"My Beauty Rules- Angela Lindvall
-From gaining weight to drinking salt water, the supermodel reveals how she became happy with her body

1- I love my curves
When i was younger i didn't do any excercise and had a very small appetite. I was naturally skinny, but i hated it. I felt thin and unsexy. When i had my first son, my metabolism slowed down and I gained a stone, but I feel like my body has changed in a positive way. I feel stronger now and a hell of a lot sexier.

2-Keep it Natural
I use natural products on my skin. I love body scrubs with apricot kernels such as Biotherm's Huile de Gommage. I'm also a fan of Dr Hauschka Oils and i love the smell of rose and lavender, especially in summer.

3Get with a programme
-Even though I love the curves I've developed, I also follow a strict excercise regime.
I work out with a professional boxer four times a week as i find this (combined with hiking and running) more effective than the gym.

4-Identify your problem area
Mine is my ***. Even when i was a string bean, I had a bubble butt. Luckily I recently
discovered infared saunas (in which infared heat is absorbed directky into the body),
which are great for the joints and skin, but also seem to burn fat.

5-Lose the gluten
I've studied nutrition and I swear I've noticed a big difference since I cut down on gluten-
no bloated stomach or puffy eyes.

6-Veg out
I'm not someone who eats grass and carrots- i enjoy pizza and I drink alchohol at parties- but when I feel unbalanced, I do a juice cleanse with every vegatable you can imagine.
Then I'll eat brown rice or quinoa with vegetables and nothing else for three days.
It makes my skin glow, cleanses my systems and strips off extra weight.

7-Health on tap
I drink water with salt crystals (Himalayan Salt Rocks) every morning to cleanse my body. I've also had a filter fitted to my sink that alkalises my tap water. It's not cheap but it's worth it as it can reduce the acidity in your body, which is great for my skin and energy levels.

8-Bye bye bloating
My in-flight, anti- bloating secret is green tea extract. A friend turned me onto it. Pass itr on.

9-Cheat at tanning
I love faking my tan-it makes me feel like I'm in better shape. There's a great tanning booth called Chocolate Sun in LA. It's an all-natural spray tan with a bit of shimmer. Then i'll just apply Biotherm Skin Ergetic and a slick of Kiehl's Marverlous Mineral Mascara and I'm done.

10- Love the skin your in
We're all built differently, so my advice is to know and love the body you were born with. You are what you feel and think, so focus on what you want to be, instead of beating yourself up about what your not.

“I have so many products—I’m constantly being sent things, and I’m constantly buying new ones. I’m very much into beauty, and I feel like I really know, after several years in the business, what works best for me.

I think skincare is very important—I have a lot of skincare products in here. My favorite face wash, that I got from my facialist Dangene [Mckay-Bailey], is called Brave Soldier Clean Skin. It’s just a really basic, simple face wash that takes off all of the makeup—eye makeup, everything. Or, sometimes I’ll use Bioderma Créaline, which is always backstage and I feel like it’s the standard makeup remover for every makeup artist. Then I’ll moisturize with oil-free moisture by Dr. Orentreich—he’s an amazing dermatologist. I actually see his daughter, Catherine, who is wonderful. They have a whole line and will prescribe you things based on your skin. I also like the Amanda Lacey Illuminating Eye Gel. It’s really subtle; it’s kind of like the [YSL] Touche Éclat effect—you put it on under your makeup and it kind of wakes you up. I discovered her line from this store called Shen in Brooklyn, they have a lot of amazing products. Egyptian Magic is great if I have a skin irritation—if I’ve been working a lot, or if I get a rash from someone not washing their brushes—which happens, in this business—it’s great for that. And Kate Logan’s Rose Otto Healing Balm serves a similar purpose. I use Homeoplasmine on my lips.

I’ll use the Rose Otto balm on my eyelids if I’m not wearing makeup, just for a little sheen, and if I’m not wearing mascara, I’ll put a little on my eyelashes. And you can do this with Acquaphor, or Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, and it just makes you look really fresh and bright. Day to day, I’ll wear a tinted moisturizer—I like Laura Mercier—and I apply it with a “Beauty Blender” which is this pink sponge that a lot of makeup artists use. I mist the Beauty Blender with Evian water first—I think it just helps to lock in the moisture. And I like to tint my eyelashes black, that’s big. I just go to a place around the block from my apartment. I don’t really wear mascara unless I’m going out at night and want to put on an eye. I’ve learned how to do a smoky eye using just eyeliner—just a basic black crayon from CoverGirl, that I’ve used so much it’s only about an inch long now! My brows are sparse at the ends so I use powder, Anastasia, in Medium Ash, and I just blend it in with the brush that comes with it.

For my hair, I’ve taken Viviscal on and off for years. It really works when you stick to it for a while. You have to take it for a couple months before it starts working, but then it’s incredible the way your hair grows. It’s been blonde for a while—I go to Christopher at Garren salon. He was the first colorist that I went to when I came to New York; Steven [Meisel] sent me there, and I’ve tried out a few different colorists but I’ve always come back to Christopher. He’s done me red, he’s done me platinum, he’s done me strawberry blonde, lighter blond, darker blond—he can do it all.

I have a lot of travel-sized products like Herbal Essences Hello Hydration—which is a great shampoo and conditioner combo, and I’ve used everything. I actually discovered it because my boyfriend uses it! I love it. I get compliments from hairdressers I’ve been working with for years, saying, ‘This is the best your hair has ever looked, what are you using?’ and I’m like, ‘Herbal Essences!’ [Laughs] Raw Botanicals Glistening Hair Balm is a great product too—it has real bananas in it! It’s great for the beach or running outside because it has UV protection. But I try not to put too much product in my hair unless it’s really dry from working a lot. I just feel like my shampoo and conditioner is enough.

I’ve been using men’s deodorant for years—original Old Spice. I just think it’s the best smell. Other than that I’ll wear Hanae Mori perfume. I go running outside and I work out with a trainer, and I eat pretty normally. Actually I just baked fifty-four cookies last night. [Laughs] I eat whatever I want, I just believe everything in moderation.”

So interesting! I love reading what models use for beauty. Thanks for posting.

Nice to know models use CoverGirl makeup, too!

Lily and Ruby Aldridge:
Ruby: I never really had a beauty routine before—I was using all different face washes and didn’t have a set regime, but I just went to Mario Badescu and got a facial for the first time, and it was amazing, so since then I’ve been using their products every morning.A face wash, toner, and a moisturizer with SPF—I wasn’t using any sunscreen—and it’s made such a difference in my skin. I even took my boyfriend there! [Laughs] We went crazy and bought so much stuff. I just had stuff I couldn’t get rid of, and they did such a good job. I don’t really carry anything around…I’d like to think I always have a brush with me, but I don’t really do that. [Laughs] I always have lip balm; that’s my one thing, I guess.

Lily: I just gave you that Fresh lip balm.

Ruby: Oh yeah!

Lily: Those are so good—I literally just bought five of them; there are tons in my bag. They come in all different colors and I use all of them. I like Fresh’s candles and body polish too, and I love bath salts—EO bath salts. I’ve been using Mario Badescu face lotion since I was sixteen. It’s perfect. And I love my Clarisonic—it’s amazing, it just gets all the gunk off. Especially for models, you have so much makeup on all the time, so as soon as I get home I’m scrubbing it all off! But it’s really soft—you just wet it or put a cleanser on it—I like Cetaphil because it’s so gentle. When I’m not working I’ll wear some NARS Laguna bronzer, and I use highlighters a lot. Rose-Marie Swift has this natural one called Living Luminizer and it’s amazing, it gives your skin a really nice glow. Anything really simple and natural I like. I have wavy hair but I’ll curl it every three or four days with a 1 ½” curling iron, and pull it out with a tong. Oribe has an amazing Dry Texturizing Spray I use. And I go to Tracey Cunnigham in LA; she’s the best colorist in the world, I think

well, she seems little paranoid....people don´t really watch each other at gym, they are focused on what they are doing, their own work-out.
and running around apartment sounds so wierd, what a work-out
or maybe she own huge castle to run around???

I'm going to try the Viviscal Tablets after hearing all the great reviews from the models. :P and of course their hair always look amazing.

Hey guys I'm new to the fashion spot, but I have been modeling for 4 years I have lived and worked with many beautiful models around the world, so I definatly know some skin and hair tips, I prefer though to not share my friends names
My must haves
Rose water face mist, also heard Candice swanepoel loves this
Clinique dramatically difference moisturizer I've been using it for years and in NYC when it started to get chilly I tried to change to a different moisturizer that was more heavy with anti aging benifets and nothing was as good as this one, I promise you
For hair I started usin Moroccan oil products for moisture because thats what all the hair styalisy suggest they worked great on my hair, and I know other models that use that as well, but if you want something more reasonable I LOVE the loreal sulfate free moisture shampoo in the green bottle I also know some top girls that like this shampoo plus herbal essences hello hydration conditioner
As for girls I have lived with I noticed alot of them have the mascara in the yellow tube maybe it's called collosal lash I can't remember?
In Europe the Vichy face moisturizer I've seen around
Face exfoliation for sure
Ah and my favorite! And I've seen other girls with this in their bags as well, garnier under eye dark circle roller with a little coverage, I love this because at castings they say no makeup if you roll this on it looks like your not wearig anything but you have no dark circles at all! I can't live without this!
Shu emura eyelash curler, seems very popular
I know there is so much more I will post when I think of them
Of course these girls never sleep in makeup, deep condition hair and moisturize
But I can honestly tell you these girls have perfect skin and hair because they eat very healthfully, I am one of the only models I know that will eat junk food, so I am on the "curvy" side for a model, the girls eat snacks such as frozen fruit steamed brockli almonds and egg whites hope this helps!

LILY DONALDSON REVEALS HER BEAUTY SECRETS
December 2, 2011, 10:01 am
Victoria's Secret Angel and Biotherm ambassador Lily Donaldson shares her top beauty tips with marie claire.

5oaww4.jpg

What's your best beauty advice?
"I think it's really important to get plenty of sleep and drink lots of water. I also always make sure I remove my make-up before bed."

What do you like most about your job?
"I love travelling, meeting new people, and working with incredible artists. The downside is the very early call times and jet lag!"

Do you take extra steps to care for your complexion when flying?
"Yes, I make sure to drink extra water and moisturise regularly. At the moment I love Biotherm's Skin Vivo Uniformity Texture & Tone Reversive Moisturizer. My lips also tend to get really dry, so I always carry a nourishing lip balm."

Are you a sun worshipper, or more of a shade seeker?
"I really try to stay protected from the sun. I won't leave the house without applying sunscreen to my face and wearing a wide-brimmed hat."

What's your favourite beauty pick-me-up?
"I always feel better after a relaxing bath or massage."

With your busy schedule, how does exercise fit in?
"I'm not a big fan of the gym and I prefer to exercise outside whenever possible. I horse ride quite often and I also like doing Pilates and swimming."

What are three things that you just can't live without?
"My BlackBerry – although I wish I could! My iPod (I'm currently listening to Connan Mockasin) and chocolate buttons."

I don't buy any advice from a model who's plugging the brand she's endorsing - which, come to think of it, any model with a beauty contract does.

I'm going to try the Viviscal Tablets after hearing all the great reviews from the models. :P and of course their hair always look amazing.

I use it myself because i shed alot. IT HELPS SO MUCH. 2 tablets a day for 3 months - nice improvement in hair and nails. buy it off amazon because its $20 cheaper than off the official site

I wonder if taking Viviscal is worthwhile taking if your hair is already nice and healthy. I'm happy with my hair, but still want to look after it. Is it just for hair loss? Silicea is amazing. When I can remember to take it, my hair and nails really show.

Are those Viviscal tablets great for skin too?

I took the viviscal tablet for a while and they are great for your hair! I didn't notice any change for the skin though!
