Panos Yiapanis - Stylist

This interview was good because I didn't really know anything about him before. And I'm a big fan of Corinne Day, so I thought it was really interesting learning about his earlier days working with her.

Completely agree, I had no idea about him or his background and by reading his answers I just became even more enthralled with him and his life, what an incredibly fascinating, and humble man. Thanks so much for posting

HAS GAGA CHANGED STYLIST

Rumours on the web neither confirm nor deny, though you just need a quick glance to realize that something is going on. Is Nicola Formichetti out and Panos Yiapanis in? Many of you might not know these names, but you just need to see the dancers look in Alejandro (naked to the waist, leather trousers, bowl haircut in the best goth tradition) to recognize the forceful style of the fashion editor of Greek origins, who has been collaborating with Steven Klein for a while. Who knows...

hahah that would be hilarious!!

I think its just perhaps the new gaga video looks like any Steven Klein editorial and in particular the one he did with Panos for Arena Homme Plus strikes a very familiar chord!

Though it would be interesting to see. It would be great if Panos was working with Klein more too, they seem to make a great pair. That is if he is still styling following the recent comments in Industrie Mag??

Panos with Gaga? of course NOT!
Thank God Panos has great taste!

Yeah, apparently Nicola is still doing Gaga. But he's been doing Panos for a while now.

I agree with his statements about the creativity of the business today and the role of stylists (not the lowest creative rung part but the celebrity part). I love his work but I don't get the passion from him. If he's not happy where he is then I don't want him there. (I hope that doesn't sound mean because I mean it in the nicest way.)

^^^ Totally agree.

I have to agree as it would sadden me, but if he is not entirely happy or passionate about it then maybe he should move on..It is becoming more apparent in his work too, he does not seem to do much editorial nowadays; and besides that recent another mag shoot he hasn't done anything particularly incredible..He used to dominate in so many magazines too. Its funny cause other MAJOR stylists like Karl Templer and Olivier Rizzo and Marie Amelie still seem to pour themselves into many many editorials as well as shows, so maybe Panos is just not into it anymore..?

I've just spent the last hour going through this thread, and I'm so glad to see how regularly it's updated.
That interview with him is one of the most honest interviews I've ever read with a stylist in his position in the industry. I really hope he decides to continue styling, because his vision is so distinct without being contrived. We need more people like him in the industry.

You mean they are a couple ?
Pretty cute couple, though I wasn't really seeing them together ...

* sorry if I completely misunderstood .........

they're not a couple for sure.
I think she meant to say that he (Nicola) has been doing (styling) Gaga for a while now

Badly explained, I was referring to the article that said styling in Gaga video looked like Panos work, adding that most of Nicolas work, especially lately, looked like Panos work.

panos is
an extension of riccardio tisci's vision and creativity

Panos was styling long before Riccardo started designing & had established his style before Riccardo took over Givenchy.

excerpt from wwd.com on whatcourtneyworetoday.com

Love’s stylist and friend Panos Yiapanis is another factor that facilitated her fashion renaissance. She calls their friendship a “major, major love story” and said that meeting Yiapanis in 2006 changed her life. “I’m really loyal. We’re married on Facebook,” Love says, apparently the measure of a good friendship these days.

She laments the time she went to Paris in 2006 (pre-Yiapanis) and was only invited to two fashion shows, Stella McCartney and Yves Saint Laurent. “There was even a fracas about me sitting in the front row at Stella,” she recalls. But all that changed when she met Yiapanis, and within a season she was getting invited to everything.

“What he did for me is unbelievable, that he went out on a limb for me. Riccardo [Tisci] had just come to Givenchy, and he was the first Italian to run a house, and Panos convinced him to meet me, and I met Riccardo. He’s so warm.” Love went to Givenchy’s couture show the following year, dressed from head to toe in the designer."
