Pan's Labyrinth

i just saw this (finally!) and it was just heart wrenching and visually stunning. i think it was brilliant for del toro to juxtapose a brutal and recent history and how children would deal with such a harsh reality via imagination and fantasy, for an audience of 18 and over.
Agreed, it was a very nice contrast. I was suprised on the tone of voice that the Faun had. I am so in love with it, though! I really hope more art books start being released, in the same way that Brian Froud has released faery and Labyrinth books (which is my favorite movie of all time).

excellent film one of the best of last year...beautiful sad hauting and also exciting.....but ultimately very sad.

I'm dying to see this! This and Perfume... why do my theaters only specialize in movies like Talledega Nights?? :ninja:

^ have you gone on Fandango.com? That's where I went, even though I knew they were gonna show it near my University's indie theater, I noticed more regular theaters are carrying it.

^I haven't actually, I just looked through my local paper. As it turns out some of the bigger cinemas show it but only at a few rather inconvenient times. A movie like this I really must see, so I may just have to bite the bullet and go to the 1:15 AM showing!

yeah it was sold out in my area this past weekend. i totally forgot about this part though - at the end of the movie, this man got up and started yelling, "take the message of this movie with you everyon! do not obey everything u are told! this administration lies, lies, do not obey!"

i can see how he saw relevant comparisons to current events, that was kind of...bizarre.

This is now going to play at my local indie theater with it's wide release! Now I have to buy tickets to Charlotte's Web because Pan's is rated R... :shifty:

I really really really want to see it!! But I don't know where the indie theaters are by my college. Maybe it will be out until March when I go home for spring break?

I only found out about this film 2 days ago, but I'm dying to see it too. I haven't seen a movie about magic and fantasy in so long that is beautiful and makes me believe, just a little bit.

so good!! eh, guys?:woot:

and i'm glad you wrote that, goodjeans...that's precisely the way i interpreted the film. just a kid with a vivid imagination going through hard times.

This is definitely on my must-see list. In fact, I may go tomorrow, before the anticipation becomes unbearable... I hope the theater is empty and quiet, just the way I like it.

Walk in with a semi-automatic in your tub of popcorn and the theatre will soon clear... They're not to know you're firing blanks...

woohoo its nominated for 6 Oscars in the Best Original Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Foreign Language Film, Best Makeup, Best Original Score categories!!!!!!! :woot:

That brings new meaning to the term shotgun wedding.

i caught a screening of this a few weeks ago and loved it.

i must say its VERY historically accurate. i have been to the towns in spain where the movie was filmed.

and i did turn my head during some of the intense scenes, but i am super sqeamish anyway.

at the screening i went to there were a lot of people weeping and cheering at the end.

It's a fantastic movie, though I went in thinking it was rated PG...that bottle-in-face scene was a bit of a shock.
