People February 28, 2022 : Linda Evangelista

Her courage made her even more beautiful.

IMO this isn't even a case of body dysmorphia. This is a botched procedure that left her with masses that should not even be in her body. That, to me, is actionable. I hope she gets the justice she deserves.

I also hope she gets the peace and happiness she deserves. Justice, often times, is a mere piece of paper. Most often than not, the effects of the incident outlives a person.

La Evangelista. She can still sell me anything. All i want to wear are cardigans now. Very sad to hear she has been in such a dark headspace. Depression is so challenging, hope she can find some peace of mind and inspiration again. Have missed seeing her most of all.

Meh… Im not going to feel sorry for her. A public article claiming “woe is me” to cite in court in hopes of winning $50M right around the time her child support is about to run out?

Even if her body is “deformed and disfigured” her face would still be intact. To argue their case the company she’s suing can look at her previous modeling jobs, how often she was working right before, how many were just dependent on her “body” vs other types of modeling, cite natural aging, see what other surgery she has had, their original surgery which I sure laid out the risks… she still went forward with it.

"I hope I can shed myself of some of the shame and help other people who are in the same situation as me," she says. "That's my goal."

Um how many people were famous supermodels and bore a child to a billionaire? Then were able to have such surgery then legally b*tch about it? How is $50 million going to help those alleged people?

She had her heydays, love to see her previous work but now her and goal are irrelevant.

Personally I sympathize Linda's misfortune, and I would have wanted to look like Nicole Kidman in my 50s. There is nothing wrong about plastic surgery if it works, which is not in the case of Linda and she has the right to sue. Meanwhile, I am glad that she came out and shared her story.

Do we still have a chance to see her by Meisel on the cover of British Vogue? I'd have loved to see that instead of People magazine.

Because this is a fashion magazine forum, a lot of people here will have a great deal of respect and fond memories of her work, and will perceive her situation through that lens. People can also appreciate that, as a celebrated model, the ageing process is like 'starting out rich and only getting poorer over time'.

But I can equally see how this could be seen as being the latest in a series of grifts, the first being married to model agent Gerald Marie with all the benefits that brought to her career, the second getting years of child support from one of the richest men in France, and now people might think she's looking for a payout from being 'horribly disfigured' to set herself up for the next stage in her life.

Because Linda has been relatively private as a person, we just don't know who she really is.

Wow. I just listened to the podcast. Linda’s condition has given her hardened masses in different parts of her body, some of which she says have been numb for some years now. And seemingly permanent. Very sad.

This is the summary.

Masses grew on parts of her body where it shouldn't even grow in the first place.

She need not be botched to a point of being unrecognizable for her experience to be valid.

WIth due respect, this is not a case of a model who aged differently than her peers. This is a person who has lumps all over her body because of a procedure. Just because it looks okay to us does it mean that it should be for her. Neither does it make it right or acceptable.

I'm at awe at how this is being dismissed as something that's done out of her vanity just because she's a model. Again, there are masses in her body. Masses. Any reasonable individual, model or otherwise, would/should be angered.

And her work not being heavily dependent on her body is entirely irrelevant to her lawsuit. Just because she "relies" on her face does it mean that lumps and masses can just grow out of her body for no reason.

If you read how she describes the 'Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia', you get a better understanding of what she's dealing with. I had to search for other photos for reference. It does sound like a nightmare!
The condition is permanent. Diet, exercise, liposuction, won't improve it. And she describes it as hard protrusions, not the normal fat distribution in the body.
Those photos don't show what's happening. Only the one showing the lump on her back- under her arm gives a peek.
It doesn't look normal at all.
Would not want what she's going through. The physical hardship combined with the mental effect it's had.
This is not just vanity and aging.
I've never been a huge Linda fan, but, Good for her to speak out. I never heard of these side effects until she came forward.

She’s millionaire on her own right. Probably doing it to save her dignity

I think we as human beings need to empathize a little bit with her situation, imagine being one of the biggest supermodels of our time and seeing your career and youth fade slowly, that takes a huge toll on a person's self esteem and given today's instagrammification of society and the rise of plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures, it's no wonder how Linda fell easily into that. Think about how her whole life has been based around her looks and now she has to deal with this permanent damage on her body. While I may give her the side eye to some things she has said and done (getting married to a notorious predator for the sake of her high fashion career, for example) but ultimately I do understand where she is coming from.
