Vogue Italia May 2012 : Linda Evangelista by Steven Meisel

I love the picture that shows the words "La Linda" on the back of Linda's outfit.

Vogue Italia should def start using one or more additional cover photographers.

I think VI needs to hire a talented art director or graphic designer to revamp the layout of the magazine
Amen! For a magazine of this caliber, Vogue Italia's layout is truly horrendous...so much so that I can't bear to look at the front of the book pages and just flip through them every month.

The fact that Linda is gracing the cover got me so excited. Especially with those GIF previews that were released showing her dancing skills. But after opening this thread and seeing the cover, I must say I was disappointed. The layout is just truly horrendous. Much horrible and worse than last month's cover with those newbies. You have a legend and this is what you came up with? Please...

Good thing the accompanying editorial looks really promising. I so can't wait to see it.

Congratulations to the queen of Vogue Italia on yet another cover of fashion's bible. Although it would've been great to see the cover picture show Linda's dazzling smile, this is certainly a step up from the recent hideous Joan Smalls cover which looked like a Facebook snapshot of the typical teenaged ANTM viewer trying to look like a model.
But more than anything else, this cover is indicative of the fact that something's seriously lacking in today's fashion industry, and that's the reason why the industry feels the need to continually bring back middle-aged models like Linda. Why can't the industry simply be satisfied with its present-day batch of models???

The animated GIFs look fun, and I can't wait to see the editorial.

Either I'm missing something, or the stylist, make-up artist etc. are not credited

I never complain about celebs having no range in eds, because they aint models, but this is wow, they could have used a wax figure and it would be more engaging.

Looking forward to the main ed though.

^Agree never get her appeal, always seems like a robot to me. Excited to see more of Lindas edit after seeing the preview, she looks gorg.

^^ I am actually seeing range and considerable emotion, the first image is downright haunting. If anything I think that she went a little too overboard / over-acted in these two images, but other than that she is into character in the right way IMO. One thing that seems off is that the ed looks autumnal which is unexpected for the northern hemisphere in May.

ETA:
Also I would not expect to see that much range in a single ed, I determine if a model ("real" or celeb) has range more by her body of work than a single ed. Also this ed in particular is rather short, it is eight images, but it looks like it is really 4-5 images stretched into eight due to the camera panning in and out.

 i agree with agee in he overacting. I have no idea why she looks like she just murdered someone and is having regrets about it. It's just Miu Miu

Oh I love Olvia's ed..she looks so striking, I've always found her to be beautiful.

...A little confused as to what her job description is these days but she's stunning none the less.

And i have to say, I actually don't mind this cover, it's hardly groundbreaking but it's not terrible either.

I still don't know why Olivia Palermo is relevant. At least LC, Whitney and those other girls are a bit more charismatic, everytime I look at her face I get into a mini coma.

^Gorgeous love this, by far the best Meisel editorial in VI this year. They still create magic together, Linda is as sexy and alluring as ever:heart:. thanks for the hqs:flower:

I was expecting more variety but this is great! Linda looks so plastic, and I dont think it is from the photoshop
Impressive job and really well executed.
