Vogue Italia May 2012 : Linda Evangelista by Steven Meisel

Despite being a repetitive, I love Linda's editorial. She looks radiant and I couldn't think about another better choice for this than her.

I have no doubt that Linda has a lot of fun doing this editorial, it really shows in her expression and I actually smile at every page of the editorial.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the editorial: linda is fantastic!

I love Linda's editorial. She looks AMAZING :clap:

LINDA + MEISEL = Perfection

Well, that was disappointing. Talk about repetitive and lack of variety. It looked as if she only had one angle.

More than perfect actually. I love each and every shot. Despite the awful cover, the editorial definitely makes up for it. No one can give justice to this kind of editorial than Linda. She just exudes glamour and fun in the entire spread. Not to mention how she has showcased each clothing in a very fashionable way that will suit the theme that Meisel was aiming for.

Bravo Meisel, Carlyne and Linda! Feels like early 90s VI again.

I think I was expecting a little more, but this is still very impressive and I certainly feel the vibe from the pictures.
I like that Linda looks her age and there is something very sexy about her dancing her way around a club, with younger guys who are rightly in awe of her.

I knew the editorial wouldn't disappoint  .
Linda is amazing + gives some serious Sophia Loren vibes here which I love. I also love how each shot looks like a still from an old movie, the work on the light is particularly amazing.

Very nicely done. Vibrant. Fun. Love the use of lighting in the photography. Linda was allowed to look her age and she looks damn good.

I just can't get over whatever Linda has done to her face. Sad.

This is VI's best main editorial of 2012 but that is damning it with faint praise. The concept and styling are good / great... the energy / vibe is great, I feel like I am in the club - Meisel and Co. did a fantastic job on that front. Linda is mixed in the ed, her posing, while somewhat redundant, is great, she owns the room but she is not (or cannot) deliver facially in a few of the images - I suspect that Meisel had to use camera techniques to compensate. I, and many others, have noticed this in some of her other work, and it is not always a showstopper for me, but here it affects the result, and what should be a great editorial is just good / almost great.

Seriously, how much depth does one need for an editorial like this? Its supposed to be light. What was that last VI editorial she did with Van Seenus and others at the cemetary? She had just a few scenes but wow, she was powerful. Evangelista can emote when she needs to, but its not necessary here. Her face is different here, but when is it not different? Every year (for the past 25 years) she has been accused of doing something to her face. She is getting older and her lips are thinning out, nose is getting bigger.

^ IMO there should be, if not more depth, then more vibrancy for this kind of editorial. That attribute is not required as much for the more stylized eds like the one you are referring to, as well as LE's ed in the August 2009 issue of VI, which is a favorite of mine.

I was actually expecting a climax at the end of Linda's story, coz I had been hoping for something more dramatic based on the previews... But still the whole looks glamorous and joyful, so I quite enjoy it.

Its a fun ed, although it suffers from being repetitive i like it.
