Perfume Recommendations - Looking for a perfume that smells like...

Any recs for someone who isn't that keen on perfumes? A couple of years ago, I found myself completely sick of perfumes and how artificial and "shiny" I and everyone around me smelled. They never smell like anything occurring in nature...I've tried Philosophy's "non-perfume perfume" and it's just awful stuff. Also, the perfumes I have used change once on my body. :( I'd like something clean, simple, subtle, and grown up, all in one. Possible?

mehrunissa, may be you`ll like Lanvin jeanne or lanvin eclat d`arpege? They are fresh, subtle....Eclat d`arpege always gives me a sence of freshness, purity and cleanness. And may be it`s worth trying Loewe Aire Loco?

Anutka, thank you for the suggestions, I'll definitely make a point of seeking these out for a whiff.

Two of my all favorites are D&G - the one. And Christian Dior - Miss Cherry. I adore them! I love sweet perfumes

I'm after something that smells similar to Chanel Bois de Iles EdT. As they describe it - "an intoxicating, warm, woody Oriental", so it's something delicious and addicive, but not sharp or gaudy. Some of the notes include sandalwood, vanilla, ylang ylang, but I hate most scents with them in, eg, Hemres Bel Ami, DG Sicily, so that my problem. :(
Doesn't have to a mens scent (since Bois de Iles also isn't), but has to be long lasting.
Or am I wishing for something that isn't there?

I'm not sure what your budget is, nor what notes you like but what about getting some samples from a niche store or perfume shop? Check out Lucky Scent or Aedes de Venustes websites. That "artificial and 'shiny'" notes may be the alcohol and aldehydes in those cheap fruity perfumes and I hate how those smell, like hairspray. Otherwise have you gone to a healthfood store like Whole Foods? They have oils from Nemat and others. They can help you try out and choose a fragrance. You might also think about not even using perfume but fragranced lotions. You might try looking into fig scents. I reallly liked Diptyque's Philosykos scent. It's a nice subtle green fig scent. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for something thats smells like vanilla, but without being (overly) feminine. Any suggestions?

narciso rodriguez is a nice scent

i LOVE their fragrance. but i only have sample and i can't afford a whole bottle atm, does anyone know a similar perfume that's a bit cheaper? unfortunately i have no idea how to describe the smell, but here's the official description
Musc is at the heart of For Her. The fragrant harmony of the musc expresses itself through three pulsations; honey flower, radiant amber, and tactile wood. This fragrant harmony develops gently and slowly, rounding out into the warm tones of sunkissed skin, dusted in a soft, velvety sensuality.

Notes:
Honey Flower, Solar Musk, Orange Blossom, Osmanthus, Amberlyn, Vanilla, Tactile Musk, Tactile Woods, Vetiver.
Style:
Warm. Sensual. Feminine.

any suggestions:(

I'm so bad at finding the right fragrance for me. Actually, I'd like to know what would suit me. is there any test to do, like personnality test ?
I feel stupide about that ...
I'd like to try Shalimar because I want something classic but I don't know, maybe it's not for me, maybe I'm just too influenced by Gainsbourg's song Initial BB ??

It's really quite personal and not based on anything that could be addressed in a quiz - at least I have yet to find a good quiz on the topic. Shalimar is an extremely distinctive perfume, and when I say distinctive I mean a very much "love it or hate it" sort of scent. I don't know how far you've explored in the world of perfume - if you're still edging in and want something classic you might try Chanel Chance or Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere, but really you might want to try testing some scents at a department store and seeing what you like and you don't like, that way you'll be able to make educated choices.

If you are a little farther in and already know what you like and don't like, if you favor heavy orientals Shalimar might be right ^_^

Whatever it is, don't feel stupid, it's just a matter of taking some time to test perfumes and explore your personal preferences. Best of luck! :winkiss:

You might want to try out Stella McCartney's Stella and Stella Nude. I've also heard good things about Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely. They all have a musky woody floral feel to them that's similar in spirit to the Narciso.
