Alberta Ferretti is all about contrast. Last season, she chose a tomboy-femininity motif. This time, she juxtaposed her romantic ethos with sports. There was gorgeous beading and embroidery galore, and wispy chiffon frocks in prints evocative of Murano glass. She topped these with organza anoraks and draped thin coats over backs like capes. Ferretti cast it all in an exotic, ethnic light that, though it had whiffs of Dries Van Noten, was alluring and oh-so-utilitarian chic.
