Wow... the massive platforms from Post #66 remind me a lot of the platform shoes and boots Japanese girls were wearing before Japan outlawed seriously high platforms (the most common reasons why they were outlawed was because of injury and death walking in these). I usually think of Volatile for platformed shoes. Volatile makes the sandals the friendly lady at the Schlotzsky's deli across the street from my community college usually wears when there. The Volatile platform sandals help her see over the counter. Plus, they're comfortable to walk in. She sometimes wear some platform high-heel clogs as well.
What I've liked about platforms is the real funky vibe to them. I hate the '80s, but love the '70s. True to 1970s form were platform shoes. I remember the platform shoes and boots some ladies wore in the 1990s when the "20-year cycle" was in a positive favor (compare that to the 20-year cycle of the 80s nowadays). We've seen everything from platform shoes to platform wedges. Done right, they can look very nice on ladies' feet. I'm not hating platforms at all. Some do it right, and some don't.
