Please Help Me With My Homework/Research/Survey

^^ Good on you. I would have done the same. My tutor is really good thank god. Though 90% of my class don't like him much haha. Its always important to write an essay on something personal and then you don't lose that excitement. I know loads of people who are either stuck or bored half way through their essays due to it not being personal enough.

Thanks for sharing that, MP. I'm so glad it helped you out. I know that you can stand up and talk (just interpret the nervousness as "excitement"). I know that you always have something good to share and everyone will be interested. As alluded to by ta-ta, you will excell at anything that you love ... so just go for it!

Never thought that I and my experiences could be considered "living history" ... but I guess my time has come. OMG .... what happened? I'm OLD!!! :o ;)

Wow: Definitely. That's one of the reasons why I was feeling kind of bummed with the whole topic, cause I had already picked one that felt familiar and something that I was able to explore and develop more.. it was the impact of high-end stores/design in the fashion industry, basically the way these two interact with each other and the positive and negative results that have come out of that relationship. When I brought it to my teacher she didn't even know about that kind of business and that's how I ended up talking about The Beatles , which is fine, I mean, it does suffocate me.. sometimes, but at least I'm not talking about the connection between fashion and civil engineering!, though I do I wish could produce something engaging for me and whoever is going to read it.. the kind of thing that only exists when you're truly passionate about a subject. errm, who knows.. I have until june to develop my subject more and maybe even become a Harrison fan!. :meow:

Bette,.. that reminds me of how I used to talk with so much pride about me remembering the fall of the berlin wall on tv (I was like 3 but I remember it!) and the other day a girl just said 'awesome, I wasn't even born then'.. that killed it.

^ I used to work with a really young group who were amazed that I could remember the Watergate hearings, and same thing, "I wasn't born yet" :ermm:

MulletProof: Sucks that you changed it, It looks like a very good subject to write on. My tutor is okay with what we pick but obviously if you go with a subject the tutor likes your going to get a few brownie points haha. I did an essay where I wrote about CD/LP covers and how the covers related to the music inside. I kind of sneeked in a few musicians which were personal favourites of mine and amazingly my tutor was fine about it. Now I'm starting my dissertation, I'm scared! haha :)

Hi I was wondering if anyone has an interest in puns and such?
I'm doing a photoshoot (fashion spread) for Year 12 Media class, and I am stuck on the title for it.
The theme is about stereotypes, trying to fit in, conforming to groups etc.
There are 10 stereotypes, a different location per page. They contrast each other.
E.g. I will have my model in gothic clothing at a beach setting. Something that looks odd - their dark mysterious clothing against the sunny bright beach. Their expressions are either confused, annoyed, vulnerable, worried etc.. anything you'd get from the character's reactions.

I thought of some but I think they're horrible.
Titles

Solitary Conforment
Solitary Confinement
The Element of Surprise
When the Puzzle doesn't fit
Like Oil and Water
Conform to the Norm
Who am I? Where am I?
Trapped Where You Don't Belong
Out of Your Comfort Zone
When Worlds Collide
When Opposites Don't Attract

Eeeeep, if anyone could suggest some that would be great!
Leaning towards opposites, contrasts etc
Thanks in advance =D

Hehe, that's a cute idea for an editorial. There was a similarly themed British commercial a while back, no clue what it was advertising, that showed goths going to an amusement park. Hmm..the contrast between the uncomfortable-looking goths and the sunny beach is already quite obvious, so you don't necessarily have to use a title that really drives the point home. Just something gentle and humorous, and hopefully inoffensive. Some Goths are beachbums, you'd be surprised;)

Life is a Beach
Shadowplay (title of a Joy Division song)
Snow-White Tan (from a Bauhaus cover of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust)

Oh, and sorry for all these song references, but there's a really fun one from The Creatures Exterminating Angel.

Hordes of locusts blot out your sun
Raining down
Rain on everyone

Hi, I'm currently researching for my upcoming essay. I wondered does anyone know of any collections inspired by any musicians? Also does anyone know any window displays inspired by fashion, musicians and celebrities? I know Simon Doonan but thats it. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much! :)
If you could dig out some more that would be great!
Do you know of any window displays insipred celebs at all? :)

can't think of any window display inspired by a celebrity at the moment but we have 34 pages of shop design/window displays, not sure you'll find what you're looking for but it's a start, there are many pictures, links and discussion..

Hello, eveyone, :) I need to do a homework in my international pr studies, so, I'd really love to know your opinion to this question -

Which mass media has the most powerful impact in Internation PR, and why?

Not an easy to answer question. Television seems to have the largest audience, but a growing number see it as completely corporate, propaganda and a waste of time. Others have turned to the internet, short wave radio and smaller niche and global media. This is one of the fastest growing segments. Don't know if you have ever seen the movie "Network," but it, and some of its speeches are even more poignant today then when it was first aired. Director's Commentary is also worth a listen

I would really love to see some style shots of Lara Stone.
I'm using style images of her for my magazine index page, "Get Stoned"
It's part of a school assignment. Help me out Stoners!
Sorry for the puns.

Fashion Student Research Survey

Hi all,

I'm new to the Fashion Spot. I've been watching different threads for a few months now and finally decided to take the plunge and join in. No more spying on threads!

I am currently undertaking a MA in Library and Information Studies in University College Dublin. Previous to this I worked in the art and design library in the Dublin Institute of Technology which has a number of design course including fashion. My thesis will be focusing on the role of Digital Resources on the Information Needs of Fashion Design Students.

To date there has been only one study on the Information Needs of Fashion students which was carried out by John Faughey for the British Library in 1979. There has been no comprehensive study since. Fashion Design students have tended to be ignored or included in studies on Visual Artists as a whole. There has been only a small amount of research done even in the field of visual artists and how they source and use information.

I'm hoping my research study will redress this and contribute to an understanding of how fashion students are using blogs, websites, online forums and online magazines and how these digital resources are contributing to the learning process. My research will have implications for fashion curriculum, library and information centre development.

I would be extremely grateful if you could fill out my short survey by clicking on the link below. It takes less than 2 minutes to complete and all answers will be treated confidentially and anonymously. Your assistance in helping me to gather information on this topic is greatly appreciated. I have full ethical approval.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=nlhVraYXaQAScbQwPh8g5Q_3d_3d

If any current or recent fashion graduates are also interested in participating in email interviews please PM me. Again, all answers will be confidential and anonymous.

Thank you

I'm sooo late on this, but THANK YOU! ^_^

I need some help with my dissertation if possible. Could you help me with this question I'm working on "how does music and the culture of music infrom design?" Could anyone give some input on that? I'm really stuck at the moment. I'm planning to split the essay into three parts by looking at pop/alternative/rock music. Also i'm only looking at certain design disiciplines i.e. only fashion, set design, graphic design and window display.
