Please Help Me With My Homework/Research/Survey

Hi, you lovely people really helped with my dissertation last time i posted, i was wondering if you could help me again. Does anybody work in the fashion industry, a womenwear designer? fashion magazine? etc... that i could possibly ask them a few general questions about their position and influence in the industry. This would really help with my research and i would credit you in my dissertation paper. If you can help me at all you can write back here or just PM me, thanks so much :flower:

I'm doing a project at college where we have to make a book, based on a theme. I've chosen two themes which are Glam Rock and Raw and Urban. Does anyone have some ideas on what to include? Or any inspiration starters?
I've been doing it for about 3 days now, and so far I've done some mono prints of cityscapes, and tried out some other methods of printing. I want the final product to look just like a magazine, after scanning all my work in. Thanks in advance, all help is appreciated. ^_^

I have this huge assignment in History.. And I don't even know where to start!

1. What's the reasons/conditions/driving forces behind colonialism?
2. Describe the situation in Africa in the 1800s. Explain further how and why Africa was colonized, and how this colonization was seen in an African and European perspective.
3. Describe the historical development after around 1900 century. What shaped the country's history, and reflect how the developments in Africa could have not taken place.
4. Describe the Decolonization after 2 World War II and consider the background and reasons for it.¨

Im dying

Could I ask for some advice please? Could someone recommend me some fashion designers who would suit rock, alternative or pop music or designers who have worked with musicians from these genres. I'm gonna go with Vivenne Westwood for rock i reckon. I'm not sure about the other two. :)

Ashlee Simpson (pop) was wearing Gareth Pugh in one of her videos^

I don't think she sings anymore
She stars in Melrose Place now.

Do your texts address these issues?

You might try chatting with either one of your research librarians or your professor about suggested bibliography in addition to your course texts ... It's an interesting assignment. You make me wish I was in college again ;)

My teacher told us to surf the web and look in a encyclopaedia. Im so lost...

I'm not in College, im in HS ^_^

You're right! it's just the radio and her mouth moving.

I tried writing a reply yesterday but I realised I didn't remember as much as I thought I did (and learnt about the colonisation of Africa only last year!)

Is question 1 referring to the colonisation of Africa specifically? If so, I *think* that this might be a good place to start: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scramble_for_Africa.

Since wikipedia is not always reliable: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/africa/features/storyofafrica/11chapter3.shtml

Good luck! If you need anything else, I have a bundle of notes from it from last year and I could try pick out relevant bits :flower:

Thank you, that's a great way to start! :) I think the first question referrs to Africa, Im not sure tbh.

If you have time on your hands, I would really apprecciate that ! :flower:

Marc Jacobs for pop?

Jenmarlin - How about Doris Day for an 'American Dream Girl'? I thought ofher as my friend has recently appeared in the musical 'Desperate to be Doris'

Wow! - Jean-Paul Gaultier designed quite a lot for Madonna, including her (in)famous conical bra.

In-depth magazine articles on Valentino

I am doing a research paper on Valentino and I am searching for any in-depth articles on Valentino--specifically magazine or if you have any other sources that would be great as well. Either biographical or reviews of a certain collection (or really anything on him). Even if you could just help me out with what issue the article is found in. Thanks so much! :flower:

I googled and found lot's of info, not all magazines, but still good info. Not sure how "in depth" they are, but with enough material, you should be able to get a good picture about his bio and his work.

A bio on Fashion Windows:

Recent articles from New York Magazine, a bio and info about his partner:

On Style.com, about his work and bio info:

In Rueters Magazine ... mostly about the business, not the man:

Theres a lot more ... just google him.

this is silly, but i'm so lost. i have to write a for & against essay for my english class and it can be about anything. i hate it when the theme is free because i never know what to write about... and it's for tuesday:cry:
i don't want to write about something too serious like politics, because we're just learning to use the right words/expressions, so the theme isn't THAT important, but i can't think of anything reasonably interesting since i've been thinking too much about other things i have to do:ninja:
if anyone has any idea, anything you think that could be discussed in a for & against essay, i'll be grateful:flower:

Harper's Bazaar June 2007

something in fashion, *ana*?

how about fur

:)

^fur is a good subject, but i think i'm not the right person to write about it because i can't think of any good/convincing "for" arguments:ninja:
but thanks a lot for answering! i did think of writing something in fashion, the problem is that everything i thought about was more appropriate for an opinion essay...
now this just came to my mind, looking at the latest US vogue cover - do you think that the excess of retouching and the way it makes people perceive beauty is a reasonable subject? not very creative - a bit cliché, actually - but i think it's possible to write something decent about it, non?
