Polina Kouklina

Ah, I knew I spotted those backstage photos before! I just couldn't remember if it was on this forum or through email or what... still, there's no minding the occasional repeat and it's nice to see other backstage photos. Though now I must admit to envying Polina quite badly. I wish I had a job that let me hang around in a bathrobe all hours... :P

And here's something that I received from an anonymous benefactor.

A casting photo for the French shoot, taken by the absolutely lovely Swedish photographer Elin Hörnfeldt, who also gave a permission to post it, so the credit goes to her. Check out her website www.elinhornfeldt.com and blog http://beautyofthepersona.blogspot.com/

The location for this shoot was restaurant Le Matignon in Paris and apparently Polina's red hair was only extensions, so she's still a blonde.

Hmm... looks like Swedish photographers have taken a liking on Polina. Tekla, Blaise and Elin are all Swedish. She was also listed briefly in Elite Stockholm's website during this summer, though not anymore. Whereas Elite Copenhagen now has her listed.

And this is such an adorable find! Kudos to you and anonymous and-- of course-- the photographer as well!:heart::heart: This is such a cute picture, although it's sad to know the red hair we got to excited about seeing again was only temporary. Ah well... it's still nice to get new exclusives of Polina! I guess it'll tide us over until we see new stuff once again. ^_^

And it seems Polina's been working a great deal of Europe lately-- Paris for this editorial, London for the editorial with Thomas Lohr, and apparently a bunch of editorials off in the hinterlands of Scandanavia. I wonder if she's traveling since there's not much work for her in NYC? Then again, she did do the wedding ring editorial and commercial in NYC. I wonder if she's still traveling abroad for work or is back in the US?

Bigger Pictures of the French Editorial

Also, forgive me for the double-post (I can't edit my last post, alas!) but I found some larger scans of Polina's great editorial with the immensely affable Elin Hörnfeldt! They were posted on M4 Model Management's Facebook. And god bless agencies for having facebook accounts... hopefully it will make keeping up with Polina's new work easier!

They're a very nice counter-part to the candid photo!

Something new from Bloomingdale's, albeit small... I wonder if there's a catalog for this, cause they had the same event last spring and released a catalog featuring Frida Gustavsson.

Another great find! I do believe I love your secret informant now... they are doing the lord's good work here. :P  Please give them my regards... and tell them it would be lovely to see them on this site too!

Although unfortunately, I can't see the images directly in your post... are these the two you put up or are there any other...? And even if they are the only ones, it's still good to see more of Polina's commercial work! The pictures are super, super cute... I just wish we had bigger versions of them. Time to try and track down a photographer and hope for images from their official website, I guess...

Also, assuming there's a catalog out there with these photos... do you suppose I could pick it up if I go to the make-up event myself and, uh, pretended I was shopping for someone who would actually use the stuff? I'm in NYC and I work about, eh, 40 minutes from the big Bloomingdales down in Soho. You think I should make the trip? I could actually even drop by tomorrow, since I get off work early...

(And on a more personal note... ah, Mascha, forgive me for not answering your email yet! Midterms has just hit my school and I am swamped with papers and worried about grades. I can only beg for your patience presently. :()

The New Bloomingdale's Photos!

Guess who got their hands on the new Bloomingdale's beauty catalog just now? ^_^ I actually did hop right down to the 59th and Lexington Bloomingdale's in Manhattan today after work and managed to get a copy-- one of the last ones available, actually! (I tried to nab more than one but alas, they were a little stingy because of the low number...) And after that, I even managed to get their rickety old scanner working long enough to make scans of it! It's the first time I got to scan new stuff with Polina in it for AGES and even though the scans aren't the clearest ones ever, I'm just glad we have new stuff with her.

And the first b&w photo of her was plastered all over the beauty department, btw, and I love the way the heavy eyeliner looks on her. It's too bad the catalog didn't have more photos of her, although the little ones they did have were very cute!

Scans from the catalog: (No photographer listed, unfortunately!)

FYI: If anyone wants to make clearer scans from this catalog, please let me know! I'll be happy to mail it off to you, though you should also be able to get this catalog if you just stop by Bloomingdale's before the promotion ends on 10/23. (Go to Guest Services and ask around-- that's how I got ahold of my copy. There might be some in the beauty department as well.) Fiammi, you get first priority if you want, of course! :innocent:

Fantastic, thank you so much, funnyfan! Such lovely, lovely photos, I'm so glad you were able to go through all the effort and get the catalog!
Of course I'm more than willing to borrow it for scanning ^_^.

Aww, you're most definitely welcome! I'm glad I was able to contribute something beside video-caps for once! Usually, you end up being the poor person forced to track everything down for Polina. I'm just glad I was in time to nab a Bloomingdale's catalog to scan... I'm pretty if I had waited until the next week, like I had originally planned, they might have run out of copies! (Thank god I don't work far from Manhattan... I just had to take the 4 train for an extra 20 minutes to get the Lexington, actually!) You can just send me your address and I'll ship it off ASAP.

I love these pictures too, btw. They might just be my favorite piece of work from Polina this year, right in front of the gorgeous Thierry Mugler beauty ad and her Marie Claire France editorial. She always looks fantastic rocking the '60s style big hair and dark eye-makeup. More of THAT, please! :P

Also, here's one more version of that gorgeous cover-shot, from the Bloomingdale's site. You can see her really rocking that Bridget Bardot 'do here-- super, super sexy. This is perhaps my favorite picture of her this year, to be honest!

More shots for Thierry Mugler by Philippe Kerlo. No idea when these are officially released or what campaign etc.

What the...? We have activity again in this forum? Now I fee like a louse for taking an entire month off. :innocent: Curse you, upcoming finals week!

CrystalJukeBox, that's a lovely picture of Polina! I think I've seen that before (from Mossimo Dutti's campaign, right?) but never in such a large format. Anyway, beautiful photo and I actually really love that shade of blond on her. As long as it's a nice golden-wheat shade of blond, Polina's hair actually highlights her features, instead of washing her out.

Nefertiti, thanks for those runway photos of her! It's so nice to look back on Polina's past work and she's fierce as hell in both of those shows. She looks like a golden goddess in the D&G show in particular. Sigh... I miss those days, really. It was so nice to always know when new photos of her were coming out!

Fiammi, as always, those are great finds! It's kind of funny how Polina says she's from FM in that vid but it's put up by Grace Models. :P I wonder what's with that disconnect...? And her accent is very cute and yet, rather hard to place! I'm a native New Yorker and it doesn't really sound like a NY accent to me. Hmm... I suppose maybe it's Russian inflected? Can anyone tell me for sure?

And those Thierry Mugler photos? GORGEOUS. I love her with the red hair, since it's truly a color that looks gorgeous on her, but I'm actually most thrilled with the one where she has black hair! It's very unusual for Polina (I think I can only remember one photoshoot where she had black hair before...) and yet, it's also REALLY stunning on her. I hope we get out-takes or a video or something with these photos!

I know Philippe Kerlo's been keeping mum but I'm thinking about maybe emailing him one more time just to ask him if he can tell us what campaign they were shot for. What's he going to do at worst-- ignore me again? :P It's worth a shot, I think!

New video from FM,

Also, totally shallow note, but although her hair-color's okay now (at least it's not so super-blond it's washing her out anymore), it's so darn... FLAT now. Like it's had all the life flat-ironed out of it in the past and it still hasn't recovered. Okay, okay, I know I'm being nitpicky but... didn't it used to have a lot more volume? I kinda feel like mailing her some volumizing shampoo. We need to start up a proper-hair care fund for her! :P

Otherwise, she looks great... very pretty and healthy! She's not as thin as she used to be (her arms still look thin but I think her hips are wider than before) but she looks very lush and womanly. Very cute over-all!

glad to see her back, she has a sophiscated yet not boring beauty, she needs to get a major beauty contract

A compilation I did of her old shows:
