Polina Kouklina

Unfortunately, she's in the videos just for a few seconds

I'm not sure why Polina is relegated to a supporting role in that video, since she's more compelling looking than the other model. But then I'm not entirely sure what the video is about ...:lol:

Fiammi to the rescue once again!

To be fair, we may be a tad biased, being long-time fans of Polina! But yes, I agree. Polina's a lot more compelling than the other model, who's also pretty but seems kind of... I dunno... pedestrian next to Polina's fairy-tale beauty. I kept wishing they'd cut back to Polina looks dreamy on a fire-escape than on some random brunette walking around the city. :P I guess the photographers ultimately agreed, since it's Polina who got the print ad and not the other model! (Or at least, the other model isn't on the A. Jaffe facebook, while Polina is splashed all over the page...)

In any case, fantastic detective work once again, Fiammi! You are truly second-to-none in tracking down Polina's new work! :flower: And this is truly a treat... Polina looks gorgeous in black-and-white and her hair truly pops out against her delicate features without washing them out at all. Although I do find it a little funny how that picture of her has her wearing... no jewelery whatsoever. I guess it was just so fantastic a picture they could not resist using it for their ad campaign and just put some jewelery on the bottom!

Also, new videos means new caps and even though Polina's not featured for long, I'm happy to have anything to work with. Give me a day or two and I'll have something up.

Ah, The Riddle of 2010...

Oh, and I just realized from trying to do a few screen-caps that this ad campaign is actually from September 2010! So Polina definitely did do work in 2010 (and probably other years) we just didn't catch... Then again, she's been so elusive and hard to pin down that it wouldn't be hard for her to do tons of work we just haven't been exposed to. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense-- why would she appear to work little in 2010 but start working so much again in 2011? I guess we're just luckier this year in keeping up with her stuf!

That said, it's great that the video images are very high-res... makes for some very good quality screen-caps!

I spotted this A. Jaffe ad in September's Marie Claire, but looking into their website it seems that it has been published already in mags around February or something. And indeed, according to the video, it was shot in May 2010.

Damn, I just spent hours or so scanning the Salt & Russian Marie Claire, only to find out after I had finished that some settings in the scanner had mysteriously changed and the results were so atrocious that I had to trash them. Aw well, better luck tomorrow I hope.

I apologize for the double post, but...

French Revue de Modes!

But what is going on in that second shot?

Behind the scenes, I actually like them better than the editorial...

Again, credits to the lovely fan who let me know about these earlier!

Ah, so it's a 2011 ad campaign after all!

That said, I'm still curious about whether Polina really didn't work very much in 2010 and started working more in 2011... or if we're just unable to get ahold of her 2010 work since much of it seems to be very, very hard to catch. (Seriously, Polina ends up working at some of the most random places now...)

Or maybe Polina did work in 2010... but perhaps much of the work (like the A. Jaffe campaign) just ended up in magazines and what not in 2011?

I have never before so long for a time-line! :P

And sorry to hear about the difficulty with scanning... your scanned photos were always so gorgeous and clear before! I just hope your scanner doesn't keep acting up.

We are are being spoiled with new photos today. ^_^ I just hope that means new things will keep coming in on Polina in the future! In any case, fantastic work tracking this down!

Anyway, what a great new editorial! I kind of actually like the very, very stark lighting on Polina's face-- it throws her features into greater relief, although it unfortunately also hides her cute freckles. But at least the very pretty behind-the-scenes photos show them off. And Polina's hair is bright red again! I wish we had at least one photo with her hair down but still... I really hope it isn't digital trickery or a one-time coloring. It would be so nice to see her with darker hair and the red always suited her so well.

I also got these screen-caps from Miss Hornfeldt's personal website (http://www.elinhornfeldt.com/) as well. For the first two screen-shots, I literally had to sit there refreshing the website until they showed up and then had to screen-capture them in 2 seconds before they left again! :P

(I think they digitalized her face it the second photo. She looks like a character from an old-school 16-bit video game!)

Let's hope we can get more scans of this eventually!

Apparently, it's some curious headpiece from Julien David's Fall 2011 collection :D
http://www.juliendavid.com/Julien_David/FL11-L3.html

Anyways, I'll try to pick up the magazine next week, so scans will follow.

Hee! So the special effect is done old-school style... awesome! And I'm thrilled to hear scans might be coming soon-- I think this is an editorial that will be more appreciated in higher res! That red hair alone...

she's back!!!

I know! Polina's apparently been working tons in this one year as well-- I think it's honestly been her most productive one since 2006, when she abruptly up and disappeared for a while. I'm not sure if she's actually working more or we've just been getting better at finding her work (since she ends up working at some of the most random places at times...) but at the very least, she's been getting more prestigious editorials lately. I'm thrilled about her getting a cover for the first time in... what, 4 years? I hope that means her agencies are either pushing for her harder or that she herself is getting more serious about modeling again!

Also another A. Jaffe image of Polina I found. Apparently, the photographer for the campaign is a man named Blaise Reutersward... ^_^

I really love this campaign... she looks like a fairy-tale princess, all wistful expression and long golden hair. (Which looks *very* nice in black-and-white. Er... hope that didn't come out as a back-hand compliment... but I do think it suits her better in b-and-w than in color!) I'll put up screen-shots of the videos in a little bit... there wasn't much of Polina but what there was of her was lovely! Even if the videos kept apparently suggesting she was some sort of loveless gorgon for not having a ring on her finger and thus, not a man...? Or something, that video was pretty but *weird.*

I think Polina does have a soft, delicate, romantic beauty that somehow still manages not to be boring due to some of her less conventional features-- the freckles and the slightly off nose and what-not. She's a great blend of classical beauty that can still go pleasantly off-beat at times. If only more ad companies would appreciate that...

In any case, I'm getting off my lazy bottom in order to put some caps of Polina from the A. Jaffe campaign videos up. I wish they had had more of her but what they had was lovely-- she manages to look great in both print and video! Though why they kept flashing on her empty ring finger confuses me... were they trying to suggest she'd *eventually* get that ring or that she was a loser for not getting a ring or...? :P

Thank you so much for the gorgeous caps, the info on the photographer and the other campaing photo, hadn't seen that before! I bet Polina and the hapless brunette in the car were terribly envious of the third girl cause she was the one who got the ring and the bloke :D.

Here's this finally scanned, though the results are inferior to the previous. My scanner has served me well, but I guess everything comes to an end.

Bah, like Polina and even the other girl couldn't do better... I am getting a bit indignant on Polina's behalf now, though I suppose I shouldn't, since the company DID give her a job after all. Even if they made her look like some sort of loveless gorgon while doing so!

The photography for the campaign was really lovely though... I just wish more pictures of Polina were out! Apparently, the side-photo of her was featured in some bus-ads or posters but that tiny little pic was the only copy I could find of it. What're you going to do, I suppose...

And thank you for the lovely scans, Fiammi and Zhanna! It's nice to get HQ scans so large you can actually see Polina's freckles-- always good to confirm she still has them! I've noticed she's been a lot paler than she was when she was a red-head but she's never stopped freckling, which is good. Freckles are and always will be adorable. ^_^

And Fiammi, I'm sorry to hear about your scanner... it did indeed serve you so well with so much but I can see that it definitely isn't performing at peak condition anymore. :( Happened with my scanner a while back also-- I swear, I think the lights just degrade over time. It's still great to see the HQ quality photos though-- and the lighting is lovely in your scans. Polina's hair looks so great when it's a darker golden color! I hope she keeps it that way from now on.

And a quick note-- the photographer who worked with Polina for her 2011 Plaza Sweden Editorial got in touch with me through email and very kindly let me know a little more about the shoot. Her name is Emma Jönsson Dysell and she was happy to let me know that Polina was great to work with, although she's never had the chance to work with Polina in any other capacity. So, another testimonial to Polina's good nature, which is always nice to have of course! :D

Noir & Blanche
by Emma Jönsson Dysell

(newbloodagency.com)

I should add that this is the editorial that Emma worked with Polina on...

And I just noticed Emma's blog had these two pictures of Polina that I'm not sure were ever put up on this forum. They're backstage photos from the Plaza Sweden shoot. Fiammi, I think you may have pointed these out to me before... unless my unreliable memory is steering me wrong!

I posted the backstage shots and a few more in here http://forums.thefashionspot.com/showpost.php?p=8819907&postcount=38 but they're great, so I don't mind a repost.
Here's two more behind the scenes from the same shoot, which probably haven't been posted yet,

(newbloodagency.com/blogs/tekla

And here's something that I received from an anonymous benefactor ^_^.
A casting photo for the French shoot, taken by the absolutely lovely Swedish photographer Elin Hörnfeldt, who also gave a permission to post it, so the credit goes to her. Check out her website www.elinhornfeldt.com and blog http://beautyofthepersona.blogspot.com/

The location for this shoot was restaurant Le Matignon in Paris and apparently Polina's red hair was only extensions, so she's still a blonde.

Hmm... looks like Swedish photographers have taken a liking on Polina. Tekla, Blaise and Elin are all Swedish. She was also listed briefly in Elite Stockholm's website during this summer, though not anymore. Whereas Elite Copenhagen now has her listed.
