Posh Refuses to Wear a Sari for Elizabeth Hurley's Wedding

The former Spice Girl, who prides herself on her sense of style, was horrified when she received Liz's invitation instructing female guests to wear traditional pink saris, and has vowed to ignore the request.

"Her style icon status is her stock in trade and pink just isn't her colour."

who is she kidding? she prides herself on her sence of style and considers herself as a style icon?
she is so hideous ugh it makes me angry!
when i saw her at chanel i had to turn the other way because i was too offended to be in her presence

well hurley has no right to insist- didn't she show up to a friends wedding in a red dress slit up to to crotch and spangly knickers!?

A hall of pink saried- women doesn't sound very goood, but if its for someones wedding--anything to satisfy the happy couple...

The best part about this article is when it refers to Posh's "style icon status"...honestly, that just made my day.

I'm amazed at all the people in this thread who are like, "Pink? Pink saris? how can she ask for a pink sari?"

I have no idea if you are Indian, but I am, so here's a true story:

pink is our wedding colour. Christians have white, we have pink. baby pink looks especially pretty on a sari. so there is nothing wrong with a pink sari.

We also have lots of blouse styles to choose from from the conservative to the downright sl*tty,, so don't worry Posh, you can show off your plastic melons in all their full glory.

why does the woman impose a dress code for her own wedding, but never follow anyone else's? I remember when she wore a hideous curtain style D&G dress to Gary Neville's wedding and everyone had been told to wear black.

She looks dumb every day, surely

Bahahaha

"The thought of arriving in India and picking an outfit doesn't appeal to Victoria. She's a planner. What if there's nothing she likes?"... THE HORROR!!!

Ah this thread is absolutely hilarious.

Thanks for posting the information on the pinks saris, impossibleprincess, I never knew that. :flower:

what's the big deal... she can ask Karl Lagerfeld to whip something up for her... if it is Chanel she'll wear it... although she is very prone to Versace... maybe she should call Donatella..

If she thinks anything of Liz, then she should do it just for one day as that is what the other female guests are doing. If she really doesn't want to, then no one is FORCING her to attend. (I'm sure she really won't be missed!)

thank you for your post, impossibleprincess! i think it's great to get the perspective of someone within the culture so that we can understand pink saris actually have a cultural meaning.
it's still liz's big day and posh should just deal with it.

well im really dissapointed by the fact that she refused a saree...at first it seemed to me that it was a racial stuff but shes worn a sareee as a spice girl..but then i also know that liz showed up in a clevage revealing dress at romeo's christening after being asked not to....then i learnt she showed up for her frens wedding in a crotch high slit..........uhh maybe these ladies should get a taste of their medecine's afterall.......they are stars who pretend to b frens while they go stabbing each other back and are willing to go neck to neck for the title 'best dressed'.............posh if you r reading this plizz dont mind!!!!!!!!! i still am a fan of yours

Thank you for that :flower:

Sari’s are beautiful. I'll bet Posh is refusing to wear one because she wants to look different and be the centre of attention. Which lets face it is the most important thing to her

Saris are beautiful and I've seen many vibrant pink ones. Don't see the problem really, apart from them all having to be pink.

edit: oh well since the Indian wedding color is pink then that makes sense. That would make for great wedding photos. Posh is just being a bish.
