Prada - "Fallen Shadows" short film for f/w 08.09

This is boring and so pointless. She just walks around a faux-Milan.

:innocent:

I liked Trembled Blossoms much better

Love Antony & the Johnsons
What are these short films supposed to do? Capture the mood of the collection?

if they only spent a little more on the animations quality it would look acceptable

and that applies to the original but badly executed Trembled Blossoms

it is very beautiful.
and some interesting references to italian art (de chirico and brunelleschi came to mind ....)
art as an opened window on the real world ..........

^ yes, de Chirico, I thought that as well. Still, I prefer the Trembled Blossoms one. This one has a few things I don't like, for example the women with the painted face of the beginning and the end, and that strange girl with spasmodic movements that is plastic/computer-like (min 1.45). The soundtrack, even though it's good, and I like Anthony and the Johnsons, I don't find it really suitable for the video :ermm:

i thought the same thing :o BR .. esp with Chirico

i also thought of Silent Hill lol

Naïade definitely
like promotional videos
^_^
she seems to do a lot of this.. putting fashion with art
kind of ups the impression of the clothes imo

^^^ well I'm guessing its going to become a season thing. With each season, they'll make another film to accompany it.

The thing I don't understand is - how is Chirico's work relevant to the Fall collection? His work was sort of surrealist. The collection was not really about any of that.

Artistically, I thought of Goya and his paintings with the women in black lace, when I saw the Fall collection.

I don't know but Chirico doesn't really work with the lace I think.

What do you guys think?

maybe fantasy.. about dreams ..
the s/s 08 collection could certainly be that
with the fairies
and that's when the films started to show

lace, chains around the neck, chains on the purses
actually i got a melancholy feel from this f/w 08 film... and maybe even the collection
someone trapped
free only in the dreams?

the style of the animation turned me off.
i do prefer trembled blossom better.
but i really like the way the text came in in the begining. makes me wanna work on flash again!
how the text came in is actually really to do but it create such a nice effect.

I'm sticking with what Muxu said with the openining text- it looks fantastic! I too prefer trembled blossoms, for "Fallen Shadows" it just felt as if I couldn't grasp it properly; the almost transparent shadows of the moving figure with her dainty steps, my brain felt unsatisfied because everything whispy and dream like, there was nothing to hold it down- I know I'm making any sense but I can't explain it! With Trembled Blossoms, you could see a progression, I'm not saying this was downright terrible in every aspect, like gius said, I think the intention was that this Prada girl was thinking about what could happen in a daydream (with her staring off into dreamland and her 'conscience'(?) leaps off the bed and travels to places unseen to the human eye... (yes, into a painting similar to ones done by Chirico!)

i definitely got a melancholy feeling from this as well gius...
though it does echo the feeling of the collection i suppose...

and unfortunately.. i didn't find this to be as captivating as trembled blossoms... which i loved for the way that the clothes in it were so fused with nature and kept transforming...

this film was a little boring for me...
and i wish we could have seen more of the clothes..
