Prada Resort 2018 : Kris Grikaite by Willy Vanderperre

Looks like Raf's Dior - cold, sterile, uninviting. What will it take for Miuccia Prada to realise that Willy Vanderperre is plunging her brand into irrelevancy? She can get rid of Daisy Duck too while she's at it.

With sales still being down I figured they would have dumped Willy and gone for Miesel. How disappointing. He's just not working out, the first campaign was good but everything else is just a big blur.

Love this. Kris looks amazing.

Honestly, there isn't a photographer more relevant for Prada than Vanderperre. I certainly can't see Meisel coming back anymore. It just doesn't work.

I like the rooftop shots but it´s all about Kris, I love her whimsyness here.

Not so much excited about the B&W shots but i like the others ones.
Maybe the shake-up at Prada must be more drastic....

I wonder if Olivier Rizzo as a stylist for the house is still a thing. I would love for Miuccia to collaborate with Benjamin Bruno.

THe thing is that this Vanderperre/Rizzo collaboration is a bit overdone considering the amount of campaigns they are doing per season...

What's with the awkward poses and expressions? Kris looks like a little kid playing dress-up and it's all so drab and uninspired. Like a bunch of rejected outtakes.

Is Prada x Kris x Willy a good combination? Yes.
Is it becoming redundant? Absolutely.
They must challenge things up a little bit if they want to use the same model and photographer over and over again. Otherwise the campaigns will be boring and won't attract buyers. I don't think I would stop reading a magazine to look at this ad.

Seriously! At least with Sasha they kept most of the campaigns pretty distinct.

Agreed. SS17 was my favorite but that was so similar to Meisel's FW 15/16 Campaign... the brand needs to change it up with Willy if they're going to keep using him.. stronger concept- a real page-stopper. After all, that is the idea of an ad... these images with Kris and Willy just don't do that for me

I also much prefer the studio shots

The campaign posted by vogue28 it's called ''Perspectives''.

There's another one on Prada's website called ''Synthesis'', that I loved, and imo, it's a lot stronger. This is what I expected a OG Prada campaign with Kris to look like.

Synthesis, the new incarnation of 365, invites a closer view of the accessories from Prada’s Resort 2018 collection, as photographed by Willy Vanderperre. These images juxtapose light-bathed, tightly-framed portraits of model Kris Grikaite, with ‘portraits’ of the season’s handbags.

Fresh faces and new sides to established Prada classics are uncovered here - two fundamental Prada bags, the Cahier and Etiquette, are reinvented, reimagined for Resort with new palettes, artworks by Prada collaborator James Jean, and a fresh exploration of texture and materials.

Here there is a fundamental synthesis, a connection between these portraits highlighting both the femininity of the woman and the femininity of her accessories. Side by side, they highlight a shared heritage - both the woman and the accessories she cherishes are fundamentally, quintessentially Prada.

Stunning

It's still too Jil Sander-esque, it shows a lack of versatility from Willy. Regardless, the second set is good, although I hate that half of the spread is just a bag. I wish they would have featured the shoes, or at least the full look. I absolutely loved this collection, this type of photography suits it perfectly. The b&w shots are awkward and completely out of place. I would have loved to see Sasha in this along with Kris.

I don't see any difference, they all look the same to me. One set zoomed out, another zoomed in. The bags are absolutely hideous as well.

Kris is so bland... These campaigns look sterile. Meisel may have lost his editorial spark, but his campaigns were always on point. Bad move on Prada's part to switch from him to Willy.

The second set is much better, particularly the first shot.

So boring, I could care less about anything associated with Prada recently, although this collection was nice. I'm sure Craig McDean could've done something warmer with it, always enjoyed his mens' ads.

I like the second more too. Better styled. Could be promoting makeup.

'Synthesis' is without a doubt the strongest part of this whole Resort campaign! In fact, for me, it's the one Prada campaign I've liked since Steven Meisel exited. The shot of Kris holding the black handbag and wearing the navy coat is just glorious - really really love that image there actually.

^ That coat still appears in my dreams.

So gorgeous.
