Prada S/S 07 Milan

there is a very strong play with proportion that becomes quite interesting.
it seems to be the only aspect that grabs my attention.

Ok, so after looking through the whole thing I have to say it makes a bit more sense. Lots of YSL references, which I actually thought were quite good, and a beautiful color palette.

It's still a very odd move as far as I'm concerned, but there's a good third of it that I do like. I could have lived without those retro geometric patterns that popped up about midway through, but other than that it wasn't terrible.

Far from being her most convincing collection, but I'm sure this is a barometer for what's to come, as per usual.

^I was thinking YSL too - the palette is exactly like the Opium collection in the 70's....

I quite like the ethnic references Miuccia has made but they do seem more like a styling trick than anything else.

I agree that the geometric prints look a little out of place and yes, very Miu Miu-ish. Perhaps the two brands are blurring more and more. I read in a recent interview that Miuccia was going to concentrate more on Miu Miu and not treat it like a secondary label....). If they are on equal footing, perhaps it's easier to blur the boundaries.

I am a bit dissapointed...
Part of it I liked such as the colors and some of the prints but the rest did nothing for me.

I liked this collection, it's tribal in a voodoo and native american (the fringe) sort of way with lots of mysticism and at the same time classy and sophisticated. The clothes might appear short but I believe from the review on style.com that they are actually tops. I love the turbans!

The model who opened the show is none other then Suvi Koponen. I absolutely love her blonde hair and brown eyes, there's something very unique about her too! I'm not going to spell it out here but go to her thread and find out! I'm glad she has made her mark!

I'm glad to see models like Hye Park, Freja, Alanna Zimmer, Vlada, Tanya and Sasha but where is Gemma, Irina and Anna Maria?

I like the contrast that Prada always seems to have - every season is so vastly different from the next and thats a positive for Prada.

I didn't like the collection at first (from the first pictures posted) but when I had a good look at the entire collection on style.com, I came to love it.

Bette Franke and Freja Beha rocked every one of the outfits! Freja should have opened!

It kinda grows on you. I really like the colours! I don't see a lot of design involve in this collection. Just some quirky styling. But hey, you don't have to make a statement every single season. There comes a time when you just want to do whatever you want and not explaning yourself too much.

She laughed at one journalist's anxious questioning about the short pieces, saying, "I just didn't like anything I did below the waist." Meaning, "Don't panic, these are tops." And, like everything else in this richly provocative show, they're going to look totally wearable in a store come spring.

While I don't like the presentation about 5 pages back I was thinking that I could see myself wearing these as tops with my jeans or a skirt so to get to this page and read the above statement makes me happy. But overall I don't really like it. I hope Miu Miu is better.

I LOVE this... and I never love a Prada collection :p There's this real focus on legs, that I have been noticing a lot these weeks, but Prada really brought it! I think it's a very sharp collection. I agree about the YSL Opium... nevertheless I think the colours are great. As are the fabrics. One of my fave collections thusfar!

not too bad.but absolutely not the best.the colours are lovely, but some designs just sucks.

I dont quite understand those shorts/minis ... I like very much the materials and colors but Im not sure if ppl would like to wear boxy bottoms ...
When you start designing boxy bottoms you will probably ruin the house... or cause the revolution! So I kinda admire this attitude of Miuccia... And personally, I love these bottoms! I'd wear them! ^_^ Fashion is also about progress and breaking the boundaries, right? ;)

Well... Royal ... I do like your perspective ... its weird that in this times when houses try to go commercial she goes risque ... actually .. scratch that ... she goes against the grain most of the times thats why she's been a trendsetter in many occasions (sp?) ..
The thing's those bottoms are not only SHORT -read, only would be worn by young people with perfect legs- also it changes/distorts the proportion of that particular part of the body -its like you're wearing diapers!-.
I, am always pro change and pushing the envelope ... in that sense I applaud Miuccia, but then I hope we actually see this ... nowadays fashion shows are totally missing the point because we see ONE thing on the runway and a different thing at the stores!!!!

well for me it is so bad
since fw 0506, I hated Prada,
so it's like 5 collection (with this one) I've been hating it

Prada is done for me...!
It is certainly not my taste, I wouldn't wear a potatoes sack made of satin just because Miuccia said so...I respect her ideas, she is very clever
but it's obviously she is creating something that's not for me

Miuccia, Spongebob called!

He wants his shorts back!

love your comments

glad to read her saying that those short 'things' are tops and not dresses,
apart from that, hate all the fringe group, very 'visible' which means good $$ but very tacky, including the monster flat fringe sandals
prints were looking too old, miumiuish and a bit Marni too
need to see the whole collection in the shows running 'order' to make sure
but it has some great pieces like the long halter black dress, some trench, bits and pieces, the headwear, some sandals, black pieces, the ysl 'precious stones' colours

not sure if i'm really (esthetically) dissapointed, but this will bring miucca one step ahead as usual.

the 'real' issue -for me- is that miuccia seems even more confused than for fw06.07 when she tried 'safe and sport' and the new 're-ajustment' could well mirrors the lack of direction in the ongoing economic 'crisis climate' to which the industry is reacting in an increasingly 'alarming' panic.

and now the big question:
Is Zara already working on some 'influences' or will their 'creative team' cut down on Prada 'influences' for ss07 ?
i'd love to be in their head right now..

in the review Miuccia was quoted as saying that those peices are tops, (the REALLY short ones) not really meant to be worn alone- just for the runway

I really like the colors, and some of the peices are nice
