Exchange programme's birthday has prominent European visitors in Copenhagen
25 years ago, the European exchange programme for students, Erasmus, was inaugurated. Since then millions of students have been able to study abroad on its funding. 33 European countries take part in the Erasmus-programme, which has an annual budget of EUR 459 million.
A Copenhagen conference, with prominent visitors, and a subsequent party is to celebrate the event. Her Royal Highness Princess Marie will open the conference at the University of Copenhagen which will discuss the future education programme for Europe. The conference features other prominent visitors such as EU Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou and the Minister of Education Morten Østergaard.
Minister of Education Morten Østergaard will be hosting the conference together with the European Commission. 9 May is also 'Europe day' - the ideas behind what is now the European Union were first put forward in Paris on 9 May 1950. Danish and international students will be celebrating the Erasmus programme's birthday with music and 'chill'. Everyone is welcome to this, say the organisers.
