An assured Princess Marie settles into royal role at army concert

While Princess Marie of Denmark only completed her first official duty last Wednesday, she appears to be coping well with her new role as a member of an institution which goes back 1,000 years. All eyes were on the elegant brunette as she put in a poised appearance with her husband, Prince Joachim at a concert featuring officers from the Danish army in Copenhagen this week.

The newlyweds have been getting back into the swing of royal life after returning from their Canadian honeymoon earlier this month. France-born Marie has already proved a hit with journalists, by answering a question posed at their first engagement on how it feels to be Danish with: "It's lovely, very lovely," in her new language.

Joining the couple at the event - an evening of music from the Royal Life Guards band to celebrate the regiment's 350th anniversary - were Joachim's brother Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Princess Mary.

Marie's sister-in-law has no doubt been offering advice to help smooth her transition into the royal spotlight, Tasmania-born Mary having lived a similar experience following her 2003 wedding to Frederik.

She really isn't pretty, has no style and there's something very common about the way she carries herself. She has none of the class and flair of Mary, but on the bright side I have never seen Joachim look so happy.

Really? I think she's pretty, not beautiful but pretty and I love this purple dress she has on above. I think with stylists she will get better with time. And I kind of like the fact that she had a common air about her, it makes her more relatable to me.

Prince Joachim takes to the race track at Historic Grand Prix! 1/1

Prince Joachim of Denmark was one of the participants in the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix this weekend. Princess Marie - the wife of Prince Joachim - was also at the race, and presented the winners with their awards. The Danish Le Mans-champion Tom Kristensen and Tommy Kjehr in their 1971 Ford Escort BDA won the race. Organised by the Copenhagen Road Racing Company, this fantastic historic racing event in the heart of Copenhagen is in its eighth year

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie Enjoy a Friendly Dinner! 1/1

Friday night Prince Joachim and Princess Marie of Denmark had dinner with Joachim's fellow racecar drivers from the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix. The Danish Le Man winner Tom Kristensen attended along with race champions Jan Magnussen and Thorkild Thyrring.

I think she is cute, and she always seems happy. She is not the most stylish royal, but she is getting better (that white engagement suit was horrible). Of course, I am not a Danish tax-payer, so perhaps my opinion would be a bit different if I were in Denmark.

I like the purple evening dress on her although the shoes don't match. She isn't dressed too lavishly at the race dinner. It's nice to see she can dress down sometimes.
