Miss Marie Cavallier’s Bridal Gown and Tiara

The Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince Joachim and Miss Marie Cavallier on 24 May 2008
The bridal gown is an haute couture creation made of 19th century inspired Calais lace with flower patterns in raised satin stitch. The dress is off-white and lined with ivory silk faille from the silk fabric maker, Buche, in the Loire Valley.
The bodice of the bridal gown consists of finely embroidered lace. The gown ends in a train that is three metres long. The bridal veil is of tulle with lace bordering and is kept in place by a tiara.
The tiara belongs to Her Majesty The Queen. It was a gift from the Queen’s parents, King Frederik and Queen Ingrid. Originally, the tiara belonged to Princess Dagmar (1890-1961), the youngest daughter of Frederik VIII and Queen Louise. In 1922 she married Master of the Royal Hunt Jørgen Castenskiold.
In addition, Miss Marie Cavallier wears a pair of diamond earrings from Genève.
The designers David Arasa and Claudio Morelli from the fashion house Arasa Morelli have designed the bridal gown.

The comparison images are interesting. Mary and Marie have almost the same shape of face, though Marie's chin is slightly more squarish, yet somehow their chins have a similar pointy shape. I think Mary's cheekbones are higher. If I must say who is prettier, I believe Mary is, though there is something pleasantly attractive about Marie too. I think it's mostly her personality. She knows how to smile, that's for sure. :D

Royal other halves Mary and Marie show individual style sense

7 FEBRUARY 2008

They're both pretty brunettes with delicate features who have captured the heart of a Danish prince. But while royal watchers have commented on the striking physical similarities between Crown Prince Frederik's wife Princess Mary and Prince Joachim's French bride-to-be Marie Cavallier, the two ladies each seem to be establishing their own style preferences.

While they're united in their ability to put in an elegant appearance at social events, the royal companions took a distinctly different approach in their choice of outfit to attend the christening of a family friend's child. While Marie favoured tailored trousers, Mary stepped out in two skirt ensembles.

Tasmania-born Mary arrived at the church in Copenhagen with her 39-year-old husband and their children - Christian, two, and nine-month-old Isabella - wearing a pretty knee-length skirt. Marie, who is due to wed her 38-year-old prince in May, had opted for smart black pants and a long jacket.

Their preferences were echoed at the evening celebrations. While Mary had changed into a black, Astracan coat, her future sister-in-law had glammed up her trousers look with a short fur-effect jacket, peep-toe stilettos and glittering earrings.
