I know this is an odd topic, but a friend of mine recently told me to put mayonnaisse, olive oil, and raw eggs in your hair to obtain shiny, glossy hair.. you put it in before you shower and let it sit for 30 minutes.. and wash it out in cold water (not hot.. otherwise you'd get cooked eggs in your hair  ).. does anyone know anything about this? or if it works or its just dumb advice..

I've put olive oil on my head sometimes to cure my hair a bit (after coloring my hair too aften it became dried out and unhealthy looking). I've also used special conditioners, ect, ect... But olive oil really helped. (And I washed my hear with warm water) It's hard to wash out oil, so if you decide to put oil on your head, wash it out really well.

Been there, done that

the funny thing is that, it actually works great :D

Ooh something new to try! I'm just scared of having fried egg on my head, lol. I made a face mask a few days ago out of:avacado, tomato, lemon juice and mayonaisse! No idea why seemed like fun and it actually made my skin all smooth!

Oh my  I was told that banana is a good conditioner...so I proceeded to mash it and put it on my hair...it conditioned it really well but it was sooo difficult to get out...meaning me sitting in a lesson the next morning and my friend saying 'whats that in your hair?!' I still had banana ...it looked like straw when it'd dried...me and my friends then had a nice bonding session consisting of laughing at my stupidity and picking pieces of dried banana out of my hair oh the good old times

I've found olive oil to work great for my hair. I just slather it on, wrap my hair in a towel fresh out of the dryer so it's nice and toasty, wait a few minutes and then wash out. I have also tried some honey because I heard somewhere that it was good for moisturizing and curl definition. Results were just ok, if I remember.

I don't understand, why don't you just buy some fancy conditionner. I find putting mayo on hair pretty gross in my opinion.

Any particular tricks for getting out the olive oil? It sounds interesting, but I want to make sure I can get it out first! And how much do you use? Not much, I imagine...and my hair is quite short now so I guess no more thatn a teaspoon or so? I have no idea.

Mayo, olive oil and eggs are the greasiest things out there. If you wash it out with cold water wont your hair be super oily and flat?

If you get gum in your hair, peanut butter will dissolve it but then you have to get the peanut butter out.

These are good tricks for those that either can't afford or refuse to spend $20 on conditioner that will do the same thing, imo.

Some will argue that egg is better then anything else for your skin...that is what Wonder Woman used.

I never use anything but leave-in conditioner because I have fine, oily hair. :ninja:

I also hear lemon is good for evening out skin tone.. but isnt' that stuff acidic? Can it at all do negative damage?

And right on the money, I'm a college student on a budget so no expensive conditioners for me.. plus I like to cook.. that doesn't really connect to haircare.. but I think using whats around sounds sort of fun ^_^ ... you should try my stir frys..

I heard that tomato in your hair can help get rid of the smell of perming chemicals... Milk is also known to soothe the scalp, and something about avocado but I can't remember.

I made some concoction w/ bananas (and god knows what else) some time ago. I never saw a difference in my hair, at all. The olive oil thing sounds interesting, however...
