This is a description about a job that I have applied to:
We are a pattern maker placement agency in the Fashion industry. We
place pattern makers for temporary assignments with various
manufacturers. Your responsibilities would be to bring in new accounts.
You would be making phone calls to companies from the manufacturers
directory, find the person in charge of pattern making, attain their
email address and send out information packets.

Once the packets has gone out, you would follow up with phone calls.

So anyways is the manufacturers directory easy to work with? So it seems like basically I will be trying to get new accounts. Has anyone ever worked for a pattern maker placement agency?

This sounds like BULL***. The fashion industry is based on relationships and word of mouth and honestly, I never heard of a patternmaker placement agency. With websites such as WWD, Style Careers and 24/7 among other agencies, there are plenty resources (reputable and dependable as well) that patternmakers could go to. On top of that, it's not hard finding a factory these days with all directories like FashionDex. I would stay away from this one. Is this a commission based job?

no, I can work 20 - 25 hrs a week. Thanks for being honest, so this sounds fishy darn.

It dosen't sound too fishy to me. But since it's doing office type work, your probably won't be working directly in the fashion industry, you'll just be doing the "technical work".

It looks like a sales job to me. To get companies interested use your temp staff ... you cold call, get permission to send info, then do follow up calls to see if there is any interest. They might be paying commission on any that you closed, or the number of addresses you collect.
