Quotes - Designers on designers - trashtalk and high praises

isn't he like 80 or something???

a bit old to talk trash like that don't you think? in fact i'm sure he is very nasty if you see him at home when he's not "made up"

we do actually have a thread on kaiser karl with many more quotes amuck.

yeah,he can be quite horrid but you notice its always the dead and the grotesque he speaks so ill of  i still agree with him about the kors comment. can there be anyone more dead-common? and i'm not talking mundane as a form of aesthetics like ann-sofie back or margiela but just completely generic.

what are you trying to say? kors doesnt deserve the superlative ur givin him. he is mediocre, i aggree. but ur sayin hes the most mediocre. nah. theres ppl out there with lesss pretension who do a lot better in the mediocrity department

I remember Karl saying some frank and hilarious comments about the Olsen twins and Jessica Simpson which were particularly funny because the Olsens were at his Chanel resort show months later.

OMFG :ninja: I cannot believe he said that about Coco :ninja:
Well, Coco had quite the acid togue back in her day too...so in a way, Karl is Chanel.

Now that's one cat-fight I'd pay good money to see.

I'm still waiting for someone to come up with a bitchy quote from someone totally unexpected....like Lacroix or Gaultier, or someone else eternally good-natured.

^i was just thinking that myself about coco. i'm sure she could have held her own against karl.

dutty, see that's what is so ridiculous about his anecdotes. he spews the verbal gibberish and then in turn contradicts himself by,as per your example. he's really just as much a slave as the people he comments on. i'd agree with him most of the time but he's such a hypocrite.

aybaybay, there are loads but kors is somebody who's as full of himself as many of the true greats really are.

^^i was just thinking the exact same thing, your last line, on karl being a hypocrite. he is! he is the biggest hypocrite and contradict

though i have to say his quotes are sometimes true and funny, but some of the quotes on other designers was rather dumb, namely the balenciaga one (the kors one, hehe, is totally true). it's not like he's sputting out the most fantastic designs at chanel at all. comparing to balenciaga, i think his designs at chanel is truly for the old and balenciaga is truly for the young.

for someone his age, you would think he can talk wiser

i do not remember it exactly but I think versace once said something like he designed clothes for whores and armani for nuns
I am sure there are more versace/armani quotes out there

another thing was that in the beginning lady diana was with charles she wanted something versace and he was : I do not want this english cow to be seen with my clothes
but later they became friends and she then sometimes wore versace

if anyone knows of the show Metalocalypse (however u spell) they have episode with parody of Karl. hilarious

I know this is supposed to be "designers on designers" but since there is so much on Karl - I thought would add:

"I'm not interested in history! That's very childish. That's Gay Pride!" --- Mr. Karl

^^there's a thread on Designer Quotes... i jsut cant find a link for you right now... :flower:

we are so interested on the trashtalk here, is there seriously no high praises?

I'm pretty sure he was talking about Critobal back in the 60s, not Balenciaga today.

I remember when NYC's Costume Institute recently had an exhibit on Chanel, and US Harpers Bazaar ran an article on Chanel's legacy..Karl was quoted in the article as saying something to the effect that designers are more inspired by Chanel, instead of Vionnet & Schiaparelli, because Vionnet's & Schiap's dresses were "ugly"...

Armani dresses the wife and Versace the mistress .

Armani and Versace weren´t close friends at all...

more from our dear karl:

"The Kaiser persona is so recognisable that it has become a Hallowe’en staple in New York; recently Roberto Cavalli attended a party in Lagerfeld fancy dress. “An act of courage, no?” retorts Lagerfeld. “His silhouette is a little . . . just say I think I look better.”"

he is so much better than anyone!

^^ Karl seems so full of himself, but I'm quite amused by him a lot of the time. :P

Jeremy Scott on:

Ann Demeulemeester: "just another Donna Karan ... completely boring"
Galliano: "stagnant and over"
Theyskens: "too much up Alexander McQueen’s ***"

i remeber reading ages ago that when a reporter asked Armani what he thought of Versace's designs he replied something to the effect of " MOLTO, MOLTO sl*tty!"

and oh I totally agree with Berge on Valentino dressing whores and kept woemn, barf.

and yes, if i was a lipstick lesbian back in the heydays of saint laurent, i would totally wear ysl.
