Quotes - Designers on designers - trashtalk and high praises

wow karl goes a bit to far on some of the designers that he has bitched about. i love his collection for his own lines but for chanel im not that impressed. i have trouble liking him ever since he became really close with lindsay lohan

Oh Karl:rolleyes:...I don't like what he says, but I'm sure as h*ll amused!! Makes me wonder what he'd say about Galliano...

I'd pay big money to see any of these designers in a cat fight!:D

Karl is great. I would love to see a catfight as well..

A Full on b*tch-Slapping, Hair-Pulling, Spit-Spitting catfight..
:woot::woot:

Karl is obviously just doing it for the attention, which I find so sad. And completely inappropriate for someone his age.

"Sometimes big designers are afraid that people won't recognize them if they change that much."

Donatella Versace

I also remember a really stingy quote by Coco Chanel on Christian Dior that went somethine like: "He does not know women but acts like one and wishes to be one"

Actually, I think Karl is being totally sincere and candid. The guy is the poster boy for people who believe their own hype to the extend of becoming caricature of themselves. I am sure he completely believes in everything he says the instant he says it, but then maybe he will change his mind two minutes later. He is as shallow and fickle as a cartoon character, but then, it's what makes him so entertaining to me.

I don't know if you have seen Lagerfeld Confidential and/or read A Beautiful Fall. Those two portrayal of Karl shed a lot of light on him, I think.

...but Alicia Drake wrote with a definite pro-YSL slant that skews things...:ninja:

Anyway, the Versace quote really explains a few things!

^I don't think Alicia was pro/con-anyone. She portrayed Yves like the talented but infantile nut-job that he is. I actually think she was remarkably objective and balanced on both men.

^^although i havent yet finished reading it... i think alicia was so con-both-of-them... i only found that more offensive with karl, because i admire him more than i do yves

Valentino:

On Miuccia Prada: "[She] knows what she wants … even if we don't share ideas about clothes."
On Giorgio Armani: "In the course of 40 years, he has created a great style — but vulgar."
On Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana: "[They were] shy at the beginning — now arrogant."
On Donatella Versace: "[Her brother] Gianni's talent was unique — but what grit she has!"

Valentino will be replaced at his eponymous company by former Gucci designer Alessandra Facchinetti as the company tries to expand. Asked about her talent, Valentino turned generous. "I've met her," he said. "She's pretty."

 At Jeremery Scott, this coming from a man who has an obession with a 16 year old girl from the internet and produces newspaper print clothes :innocent:

:D lol at valentino's comment on alessandra facchinetti. i totally loathe her designs. poor label, i dont wanna imagine what will happen...

another one from karl that i read in mini magazine, this time he is speaking about the florals at balenciaga s/s 08

"Florals are for middle-age women with weight problems,"

Why does Karl think he's God? I guess it can't be helped when so many people kiss your ****.

I do remember him saying somewhere that he regretted not training a successor for the brand. :(
