I understand that, and i wouldn't even deny that it's had that impact on me. My deal is a bit simplistic and personal though. I know so many people buy the songs that immediately grab them and fill their archives with a bunch of songs that work for them. That's great, but there's no depth or feeling with that. There's no challenge to that.

More importantly (to me) is that many artists put out albums as a collective piece of work. I like to think that Radiohead is among those who do. iTunes takes that away from the artist. When i switched from vinyl to CDs (i always hated cassettes), it took me awhile to get over even the smaller artwork! There is a certain romance to me in sitting around with a pair of headphones on, just listening to a piece of music, taking in the artwork, the liner notes, the whole experience and just focussing on that one thing; that singular event.

I love album artwork, i love liner notes, i love to see who wrote the songs, who played what, who they thanked, all that crap. And iTunes takes that away. I won't argue that it's a great way to be introduced to new music, as is peer-to-peer, etc. But i believe this isn't what it's being used for to a large extent and that is my beef.

I guess i'm just getting old. I should sound like it.

Oh I have to agree with you here! I actually haven't even bought a full album off of itunes yet for that very reason... I love my phyical cd collection. I use itunes to sample what i will buy. But I do love how it suggests other things you might like and I love listening to people i-mixes that have similar taste as you... But yes, I agree that in the end, sometimes it's a simple approach to getting just 1 song that you want when you could have bought the entire cd and discovered a whole collection of songs.:flower:

It's funny though how many i-mixes are labeled "Where's Radiohead", "Vote to get Radiohead", "We need Hawthorne Heights"... etc.

Sorry, to be off topic... on with Radiohead...

Bumping this up since somebody posted a topic on them recently. :flower:

Does anybody else think How to Disappear Completely is such an incredibly sad song..? It makes my heart ache.

Radiohead is awesome! Their music videos are always one of the best.

I  Radiohead. . . I discovered them about five years ago on a trip to Philly (note: I come from a very small town where good music is hard to come by). Everytime I hear Everything in its Right Place, it takes me back to Philly (a city I've grown quite fond of). I loved Talk Show Host in Romeo and Juilet, but I had no idea who they were. So, I guess you could say I loved them before I even knew them. ^_^
Oh how I love love love them :flower:

i can't call radiohead my favourite band ever right now because i've only heard a few of their songs. but i think once i buy all their cds (i've only got hail to thief - which my mum bought for me on the first day of release and i got a free t shirt ^_^) they have a great chance to be. i can totally see why they mean so much to people. i think talk show host was a perfect choice for the desert scene in romeo and juliet

I also relate Talk Show Host, to sex......:ninja:

It's probably the 'I'm reaaaaaaadyyy' which brings out the sex of the song. :p

From their non-album songs I adore the Trickster, Fog (this is amazing, I also love the piano version), How I Made Millions (I love the fact that his girlfriend was unpacking the groceries or whatever in the background and you can hear it in the song )..True Love Waits...hell they're all fantastic.
