Raf Simons F/W 14.15 Paris

The shoe is so hilarious, the rest is excellent to me. It's clever and fun and I like humorous side.

He definitely explored the use of color in this collection.

To me...the collection looks very jumbled, hap-hazard, eclectic, but a bit futuristic in regards to the volume and proportions of the pieces.

I actually love the collection.

Everything here in regards to commercialism, consumerism, militaria, the use of prints and fabric techniques such as the bleach effects, the patchwork, the mix of patterns on the knitwear, the proportions, is all very intentional...and very much with the times.

The shoes are a bit cartoon-ish and very pronounced...because they're very chunky in regards to the slender fit of the trousers. The narrow cut of the pants almost magnifies the bulk of the shoes/boots.....but they're also very militant. The look like Army/Navy Surplus...the type of shoes you might wear if you lived in a fall-out shelter. I think a few of the presentations of the shoes have also been re-worked....it seems as though and extra-cushion sole...has been inserted in-between the original sole of the boots.

I'm also looking at just the cut and proportion of the pieces...while ignoring all the the surface decorations and patchwork.

There is almost something very retrospective about this collection...in regards to prior collections Raf has presented throughout the years...almost like an archive.

I believe the footwear is made entirely of rubber. I've seen boots similar to these at an Army/Navy surplus store...note the military printed words and instructions on how these boots are meant to be worn.

MM….they're called "mickey" boots! good eye.

i agree….something about this feels very post-modern….like bringing back a bit of that anti-establishment/anti-fashion attitude from the late 90's but appropriating it with the current times. i feels very fresh and necessary.

^that is the best you can find, but i do enjoy this collection as well, wouldn't mind look clumsy sometimes

personal, that's all. something i myself could seamlessly pull off. i could wear just about everything but i feel a certain affinity with that look.

You're absolutely right, SCOTT....I found them on-line....but I think some of the same boots...have been re-modified....with sport-utility cushioning inserts added into the boots for a softer walk. Quite clever. The boots are made for EXTREME cold weather...they have an air-release valve on the side whereas you can fill them with air (inside) for a tighter and more comfortable fit, and they are meant to be worn with heavy, thick wool socks.

I think the choice of footwear is great.

Because the cut of the trousers are no narrow and slim at the ankle...it makes the boots appear even bigger....more heavy and bulky....which was obviously intentional and no mistake. Basically, the heavy boots anchor the look...it visually weighs the look, down....giving it a quite masculine appearance.

The coats have a considerable amount of volume...and over-size proportion....teamed with a trouser that is incredibly slender...

If they had used a less heavy boot....the look would have come across as too dainty...less masculine, and a bit too feminine.....I/M/O

those patchy but exquisitely tailored coats and the jumpers are giving me fits of nostalgia….makes me think of the second-wave exuberant era of antwerp. also seeing the original inspiration of the shoes will make you appreciate the footwear.
