Ralph Lauren F/W 08.09 NYC

Am I feeling a country hunting lodge theme here? He has done extensive furniture recently in that vain...

Oh my god totally! That's way a cool theme

I loved this one look that, along with the amazing headpieces, totally reminded me of a 1900's Ascot:

Loving this collection

Love the headgear, at the start I found it a bit dissapointing..a lot of it looked really tacky and unflattering but as the show progressed all the stunning pieces surfaced! Definitely one of the best.

^^ I still haven't figured out where the orange jumpsuit sort of thing fits in with the rest of the collection...Aside from the fact that almost no one but one of his models would look good in it...

the man knows how to do plaids!

 That he does ...

My thought was, Ralph delivers the goods again.

I hated the anniversary collection, I didn't want to see that weird tongue-in-cheek stuff from Ralph, and this is back to Ralph at his best--so sleek, reminds me of the collection inspired by his cars that was critically well received--as I expect this will be too (I haven't read any reviews yet).

Love the shots of color (I see nothing wrong with the orange, though I see some variation in the color among different shots, I'm believing the more pleasant shade till proved wrong ;)), and most particularly love the juxtaposition of pattern--it really is masterful.

And speaking of masterful--the feathers are too--a couple of the hats are just breathtaking. Is this Philip Treacy?

^^ Agree- this is more pure Ralph, although I understand that he needed to swing for the fences with the Spring Collection last year...There was a great book done about the auto inspired collection (Diary of a Collection) and even a Discovery Channel documentary about how his cars influenced his designs...He's like Karl- finds ideas in the damndest places...^_^

Classic ... the hats? Are they Stephen Jones or Philip Treacy?

Two weeks ago, I attended Ralph Lauren's fall 2008 fashion show in New York.
The next day, so could you.
I saw the show live in a SoHo gallery, with models wearing shapely checked suits and dramatic plumed hats by the brilliant Irish milliner Philip Treacy.
Much of the clothing looked right for life on Lauren's Double RL Ranch in Colorado – especially since the scene was set with gold antler chandeliers. But there was a neatness and refinement to the buffalo check swing jackets and blanket plaid coats that made them seem appropriate for the city, too.
Lauren also brought country and urban life together in a single outfit, such as a cashmere lumberjack shirt worn with a feathered skirt. And by topping things off with Treacy's fantastical feathered hats, Lauren stayed in couture territory, and not at home on the range.
