I just got black ones. I think they're on the larger side, but I didn't realize there were specific sizes. I love them. No matter how overexposed they may be, I think they look good on nearly everyone.
 
I'm going into this thread not owning or knowing anything about wayfarers so please be patient...

Are there different styles of wayfarers or are they all the same (for example, what's the diff. in look between the foldable pair and the regular)?

Is there a style of wayfarer that's bigger/oversized than others ?
 
I think 47, 50 and 54 are the sizes. 47 is really small. I tried on the 50 today and it was too small for me too. I'm thinking the 54's might be right for me.

If anyone has a pair of 54 wayfarers I'd LOVE to see!!!

So the 54s are considered the largest/jumbo?

^^As far as I know yes. I just received my "54's" today (ordered from zappos.com they're kind of hard to find and I wanted 100% authentic, no ebay) and I LOVE them. LOVE them. They're not really that big. Keep in mind I've been wearing huge Jackie O type glasses for a while now (Tom Ford "bianca" to give you an idea) - and these are large, but now bug-large. I tried on the 47's and the 50's and they were just too small. They looked strange on me (I have a big head lol) and were more "Dated" looking since they're the size of the ones in the 80's. The ones I got are the same size at Kate Moss's Ray-Ban wayfarers the "wayfarer 2140 in size 54" and they're perfect for my face! Get the 54's trust me! HTH

Do the sunglasses have the number sizes on them? Saks.com doesn't even list the number sizes on it's website at all for any of its wayfarers. :unsure:
 
^^Yes they come in three sizes: 47 (tiny) 50 (normal/small) 54 (large). Most places stock the "50", which I find is WAY too small for my face. It's really best to try them on. Kate is wearing the "54" if that helps you at all. :flowers:
 
^^Look on the inside of the arms - you should be able to tell by the numbers what size you have.

This last set shows the size difference the best since it's the same face (Kirsten's). The white wayfarers are size 50 (the normal size) and the black are size 54- it's not a HUGE difference. The 54's are just a bit larger.

hi, i'm a guy with a pretty small face and just went to the store to try on some different sizes of the RB2140. it's really hard for me to decide whether i should go for the 54mm or 50mm. sure, 50mm fits my head better but i kinda like the oversized look as well. what do you think? lol


oh and what was the size of the original ray-ban wayfarer? were the glasses already available in different sizes or only in one? (ie. 54mm or 50mm?).


ti'd really love one as close to the original size.
 
^^I believe the original wayfarers were closer to the 50mm size. I purchased two pairs of the "54's" though. The 50's looked way too small on my face (I have a lg. head) - the 54's aren't sooooo much bigger per se, they just looked more normal on my face. They're the exact ones Kate Moss is wearing. You can see the size difference between Kate's black 54's and Lily's smaller red 50's. Go with what looks best for your face. HTH
