^^^ I hope so as well. Maybe all this trendchasing to be down with the kids resulting in nothing but public ridicule will finally wake her up and she’ll distance herself from hanging out with 20yo and concentrate on her art again.
Kids don’t realize what balls, what vision and what conviction she had back in the days that none of the current crop of pop Queens would even dare: She championed diversity by working with Asians, Blacks, Latinos and god forbid, gays and presented their talents, beauty and confidence alongside her so casually without the need to make a statement about “diversity" way way way before it was the norm.
If nothing else, her allegiance— and pride and encouragement of her gay friends and collaborators to not shy away from their flamboyance, at a time when such attitudes where highly discouraged in public, would be enough to garner at least a bit of respect from kids today. I remember reading the Warhol diaries in which Andy wrote how devoted she was to her BFF Martin when he had AIDS, and she would playfully take a bit from the same chocolate that he was eating at a time when it was the popular belief that just being in the same room with someone who had AIDS would put you at risk; or how devoted she was to Basquiat even when he was ridiculed for being too far gone with his heroine addiction.
She is someone that is so loyal and dedicated to being a humanitarian in her private life, with no desire to let the whole world know about it like so many of today's so-called SJW, and all the while projecting this hard-as-nail iron woman with balls of steel publicly. The casual, ignorant accusations of prejudice and racism that’s directed towards her must hurt her so much— likely more than the neverending barrage of “old granny” or “sl*t who can’t sing". I just watched her 1993 Jonathan Ross interview of which she spoke in-depth regarding such issues as sexism, racism and ageism; and people were already dismissing her as “old” at 35. Now in 2016, the masses must be fuming that she’s still around popping her pu**y at almost 60 LOL
