Recycled clothing is new items made from vintage fabrics or clothing. I love having the look of vintage with a much more modern cut.

Its becoming more available now in my area... And I love it.

I love to make clothes like this. its so intresting and creative.
it gives new life to vlothes and creation.

There is this one store where everything is made of vintage pieces. Everytime I go in there there is a line to the cashier and tons of people squealing over the racks. Not badly priced either...

this stuff looks fun n nice
i would hate it if they cut up really nice vintage stuff.. but most of it looks like it could have been old table clothes or curtains... thats cool...
i also like it when they take one garment... say a pair of trousers n then end up making a top... the readressing of the item... is such a funky concept...
some1 in art college did this... turned a suit jacket into a pair of trousers...
and another turned a football shirt into a book!

I love that modified Black Flag tee.

The way they redesigned it gives a modern, romantic feeling to something that was essentially boring, boxy and shapeless and really utilitarian....a boring t-shirt!

and then the element of the fact that it's a Black Flag tee adds a little hint of hardcore to the soft femininity. I love that clash!

I love doing things like this

Recycling clothing is really fun, but it's murder tearing them appart, it takes for ever so I won't ruin the fabrick and sometimes the garment is so beautiful I just don't want to ruin it... but have no choice since I have nothing to do with the garment exept for making another one :P I have a beautiful vintage dress, think from the 50's, it's too tight and I can't wear it (the woman who owned it before me must have been really petite). I need to tear it to make another dress and a bag.

I've made a corset from a recycled dress, it was a horrible looking bridesmaid disaster but nice material  And I've done a vintage inspired dress from a long skirt that was never used, funny to see what is possible. :flower:

i really want to experiment with using vintage lace and chiffon with like t-shirt material. not sure if it will work, but I cant wait to try. right now all I make from vintage stuff is skirts... which are so easy to make cute flouncy gathered short skirts from one t-shirt... very fun.

does anyone remember the Ryan Seacrest reconstructed shirts? where the shirt was just turned inside out and something was silk screened on top of the old decal, but you could still see the shape of the decal through the shirt?... hehe. i remember thinking it was a cute idea, just looked bad on him :P

I agree with Brian on the black flag tee...

I just did a halter top last week out of a old the clash tee and a canvas belt.

I just did this with a Misfits tee last week! [/b][/quote]
May i ask how you did it?

Many people do this. It seems fun. I think it is easier with newer items. It is a crime sometimes to remake some vintage items.
