Rick Owens S/S 2021 Paris

I don’t know, I expected something different...Maybe a reset! I wanted maybe a more sensual Rick, like the old days. I miss Rick’s interpretation of Madame Grès or Madeleine Vionnet...Something more intimate, emotional.

This is very strong but too performative. I love Rick but not this season!
This I agree with . I still love Rick but like I said , I’m not a client anymore. He’s a master in a class of his own , but lately has been disappearing into an ivory tower of his own making and it’s become more about making ever more outlandish statements that , because they’re not surprising anymore mean very little. They’re great to look at but swiftly forgotten because you just know none of it will be sold. The subtleties of his earlier collections are what’s missing here

I have always been an avid Rick devotee because of his expertise in draping. The clothing is comfortable, not obvious & still so sexy. I agree that the point where he lost me as a client is when he began the inspiration with Larry Legaspi. I understand where it fits into his work and POV. The masterful construction is still evident but the draping and ability to take loose (possibly ill?) fitting clothing and turn them into something SO unbelievably stunning on the body is where the attraction to Rick is. The glamour elements are too loud for me & I just can't wear them or follow him on his journey there... so I will continue to purchase the archival pieces & the Lillies line.

I was admiring one of the pink sequin dresses and I cut my finger on it 🥺😡 the sequins are machine embroidered so they can get cut unevenly from a roll while simultaneously being sewn onto the denim, resulting in tons and tons of little razor sharp edges all over the dress. Ghetto @ss quality.
