Drkshdw for poor people? Wow. I don't know about you but $450 jeans and sweatshirts, $250 tshirts, and $570 denim jackets aren't exactly being bought up by 'poor people'.

^agree... nor can it still be considered the RO "diffusion" line. it is only different from RO mainline because he uses different materials such as sweatshirt jersey and denim, and the pricepoints are slightly lower but not so much as to be the poor people's rick owens.

Only Women's mainline, but there was a jacket I almost bought because the sales associate asked me if I wanted to try it on even though my shoulders are obviously too broad, and the back would have rode up on the middle of my back. It was TDF though.

Drkshdw is not impressive to me. I have a few tshirts and a denim jacket that was $700, but that's cheap! My RO leather jackets were $3K.

JJ- If you can snap up some of the FW0809 goods from you know where, you should jump on it! The Womens collection this season is just completely bonkers! That crazy folded jacket and those boots would be perfect on you.

slightly lower? hmmm. There's quite a significant difference between the pricepoints.

Oh, I get the point that mainline RO is more expensive but the materials used are more expensive as well. You cannot compare leather to denim, especially price-wise. Drkshdw is a line that is used to fill a gap that RO's mainline does not; With the denim, denim jackets, thicker t-shirts, etc.

But poor people buying the stuff does not make sense what so ever.

I dont really care for drkshdw. It's for poor people. I havent been into the Nordstrom's here in LA but I was visiting Seattle a month ago and the Flagship store had a decent selection of some awesome jackets.

I am actually trying to get my claws on a FW07 shearling that has been imprinted in my head since it came out..but I'm going to have to keep searching for that one...

I'll put it the nice way then; Your take on money and 'the poor' is not only so far off but the elitism in your posts is also demeaning to those of which cannot afford those 'poor peoples' clothes.
Get out of your small box of wealth, there's an entire world out there where not everyone can buy multiple $3000 jackets. And to scoff at those who can't just shows the kind of character you possess.

I have a feeling you will too! The materials, the cuts, everything looks incredible. Those pictures from why-lip really show some great detail.

There's so many different ways to wear this thing too....

Just wondering how LetThemEatCake would define "poor". I actually didn't plan on getting involved in your argument but I just can't help it. I wouldn't consider myself poor just because I can't afford a 3K RO leather jacket. I can't even afford a 1.5K one and still don't see myself as someone being poor. And the Darkshadow line is def. not cheap imo even though it's not as much as the main line. It probably appeals to a different (maybe younger) target group as denim is used.

I think why-lip just did this kind of pre-sale/preview thing. I think it's supposed to start hitting stores in August though! Also, the RO NYC boutique opens at the beginning of July and is supposed to have the full Fall line.

And I think the whole drkshdw-is-cheap-discussion is abit far off. As people already have mentioned, of - course a jacket made of leather is much more expensive than a denim jacket. I love the RO mainline above everything, but for myself I'd rather get DRKSHDW for wearable, not because its nicer, and not because it's cheaper, it just fits my style better. Conclusion, each to his own, and I'd like to live in a world where "poor" meant having to buy drkshwd instead of original r.o.

I saw a pre-fall lookbook of Rick Owens, but none of it was from the runway, so, most likely, he is releasing an early collection to entice us. It was composed of some nice, usual suspects...mostly cardigans and t's.

can't wait for the drk shadow this season...it works so well with my other rick owens pieces.
