RM by Roland Mouret A/W 07.08

^^Thanks for posting a nice read, and quite objective may i add.I hope he will present better shows in the future.

i've edited the title since this is not couture...but rtw as previously mentioned...

thanks for the pics scott...
very interesting to see what he is doing now...

well it was listed in the HC section for some reason...i guess it was just because it was a simultaneous showing and chris maybe got confused....i dunno...

you're welcome:flower:

^^^Thanks for the links. The collection is very weak imo,but dear lord the shoes are amazing.

My favourite dress from this colection is the moon dress, its so sublime and very much Alaia-esque.

i finally understand why many of his pieces are named after the moons on planet mars, jupiter, etc - because this is called the Satellite collection! slick! :D i wonder if RM has a thing for astronomy (or science fiction, or something related)... his most famous dress is called the Galaxy dress!

i am personally loving this collection for its wearability. and i am LOVING the shoes!!!!!

these are genius everyday pieces... he's taking everyday wear to the future. i love this and i'm hoping that h&m will copy so that i could somehow own even something that remotely resembles this, for everything's way out of my price range right now.. hoping to see more of his work in the future!

^^I agree, its definitely a everyday beautiful clothes, but even so in video the tailoring looks brilliant,so i am hoping we get Hqs of this collection!

after browsing the netaporter site, I actually appreciate his delicate detailings that go in every garments, i like the color palette and esp the pannier hip effect...though I got a strange familiar feeling of Rick Owens SS07...
The moon dress will be his new Galaxy...Its undeniably Mouret

Both the looks and the shoes (especially) are very Chanel/Lagerfeld, no?

I like the shortsleeved coats, beyond that it lacks the oomph you've come to expect from Mouret. I assume he's saving his good ideas for the shows in fall.

i just watched the runway on NAP and it actually really warmed me up to the collection...
seeing the movement of the clothing on the models really helps.

the orion coats are especially lovely  (4th coat in post 3)
i expect we'll be seeing some more really great things from roland in the future..
especially since this is actually a resort collection

Yes!Same here, this kind of collection can easily be dismissed as weak and uninspired. And i did.^_^
But boy is that doing it unjustice.Once i saw the collection on video, the cuts, tailoring, fluidity of the clothes and brilliant volume of shilouettes,so beautiful in an understated way.Seeing the collcetions on film and pictures is not the same,so it slaways hard to be fair.
The Moon dress will be everywhere in next few months.

And i got the same feeling as you,Mouret has alot of great collections in him, this is just a Resort and as that its excellent. So i am excited about his future collections.

Anyone knows if he will always show in Paris?

i like many pieces from the collection especially a few dresses...but I really don't think that the price is justified......

I think there actually are some nice cuts and shapes in this collection. It's very simple, but I quite like it. It's very understated and wearable. I could see many of these mixing well with what I wear regularly.

I totally agree with you on his genius.
But what's funny as this collection isn't so much taking everyday wear to the future, as much as a reinterpretation of the the past.

Mouret is a genius and reinventing the sexy 50 cocktail dress. Not ala I love Lucy, I mean siren, bombshell. I wonder if he uses celestial names because the mid to late 50s was and a science and space exploration intrigued time.

And the crazy cool little side panels and inserts he is using are very 18th century. But done in a very modern dress.

I think he does what no other designer has been able to do since the 80s-reinvent the best in fashion history without trying to make and exact duplicate.

But what about those shoes??? OMG!

I'm happy that he managed to come back and give it a go again. He has a lot of talent and can only get better. I remember his use of leather, it gave his looks some attitude. Perhaps we will see it again for Fall...

I have no idea why I have so many darn typos in my message. Sorry. I just got new glasses too. Grrr.

^^Oh thats ok,i loved what you wrote, very well said.

Still drooling for those shoes.
