It's not because the collage/patchwork artisan pieces weren't beautiful (I really liked the leather patchwork pieces), but because they were derivative, and those that weren't derivative, eg regular coats, jackets, separates, were so shockingly badly cut, tailored, matched and designed they really made you question if its not some work by etsy amateurs. Without the possibility of resending patchwork projects down the runway, the severe lacking in taste, design skills, tailoring, etc., really comes through. I hope they did try to catch up with the cred that they earned, but the awfulness of their designs, taste and collections is baked, it seems. While not entirely original, Wang, P&S, etc. at least delivered competent collections. Reed Krakoff is so much better, yet he was hardly noticed until these seasons. There must be so many more in the US like him.
