Rodarte S/S 2012 New York

Need more pictures! I love everything in here so far. I should check style.com...

Gah, nothing! Need more!

Im mixed about this collection. I love the theme (Van Gogh Paintings) and I felt that there was A LOT more wearable clothing than the previous collections. I felt that some of the pieces were unflattering, but for the most part, I think the collection was good.

some very pretty pieces! Some, not so much...

What I love about them is that their shows are so unlike anyone out there at the moment. I think they are very, very important for fashion right now; they do their own thing and they commit to it all the way. Some of it might be too extreme, but it has a very strong vision.

Most beautiful shades of yellow and blue I have ever seen. I think it's quite an achievement that they've litteraly splattered Van Gogh's Sunflowers all over the dresses and not make it look tacky.

They're such storytellers, love it.

^ I thought the colors and sunflowers were dreamy as well
I can't wait to see HQs. I greatly prefer it over their Fall collection, which was too literal for me.

Are the sunflowers from the first dress from Van Gogh´s painting?

I mean, Im surprised the Mulleavy´s chose to do yellow, being kind of a tricky color, but I do think it´ll stand out in the racks ...

Now .. I want to see more ... Im surprised of how overtly sexy some of the pieces look

Wow! What a fantastic continuation from last season. I love the prairie vibes of it.

They're truly creating a distinct aesthetic that's very much their own.

I thought it was quite obvious of the sisters to use Van Gogh's artwork as prints, subsequently filtering them to embellishments. The former was not necessary - if all of the pieces were as inspired by his works as that sheer dress with the sunflowers applied or the 'Starry Night' dress, then it would have been a much more successful collection, in my opinion.
This collection feels as if the sisters were trying to filter out the memory of their papier mache dresses and inject some run-of-the-mill fashion quirkiness instead. Though I was never a fan of the papery dresses, at least noone else did them.

Hmm, this collection is kind of hit-and-miss. With the hits being really successful. My main complaint with some of the pieces are kind of...trendy. I always look forward to Rodarte because they always try something completely out of the box. For example, I am seeing neon colours and colour blocking. I am sick of neon colours and colour blocking. I will excuse them for doing cut-outs because they have been doing that for seasons (and beautifully, may I add). That being said, the printed dresses are to die for. All of them. The gowns are lovely.

the 'starry night' could've been so much more interesting if they weren't so heavy handed. all those ruffles and frills...why couldn't it just be a nice dress with an incredible print?

very, very hit-and-miss. some are gorgeous and tell me where the concept is going, others just..distract. and are ugly

Well probably Michelle Williams will want to go to the 2012 Golden Globes this time with sunflower dres
