Carin Rodebjer has been one of the most hyped designers in Sweden for a while now, and lately she's been receiving international recognition as well. She was one of the designers featured in Gen Art's "Fresh Faces" show during NYFW this season.

About the designer:
Swedish designer Carin Rodebjer started to produce her own clothes in 1998, while still studying at FIT in New York. All the pieces were designed and handmade on the living-room floor of her Lower East Side apartment. After being spotted on the street wearing her clothes, she started to sell her work at Steven Alan and other New York stores. Upon returning to Sweden, she started up a label under her own name, Rodebjer. Rodebjer draws inspiration from diverse sources: Swedish national costumes, Parisian bohemians in the Twenties and Finnish trash-rockers Hanoi Rocks. Carin Rodebjer’s goal is to continue to produce clothes for those interested in design and fashion rather than trends, and to encourage people to adapt her clothes to their individual lifestyles. This year, Rodebjer is introduced to the US market; the line is also available in Italy, Denmark, Norway, Finland and, of course, Sweden. Rodebjer has been awarded two of Sweden’s most prestigious design awards: Designer of the Year, Swedish Elle, 2002 and the Stockholm Fashion Award Nöjesguiden, 2001. (genart.com)
