Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara wears Vera Wang as she graces the cover of Allure magazine’s January 2012 issue.

Here’s what the 26-year-old star of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo had to share:

On her sister, actress Kate Mara: “We’re so different that there’s never been a competitiveness between us in work. She is probably much more likable than I am. She’s really outgoing and fun. I’m definitely more of the odd sister.”

On filming The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo: “Nudity is such a huge part of the character in the book, so I never thought twice about it. There was no time for hesitation. I didn’t have time to second-guess anything or be scared; I just showed up and was comfortable….People always ask, ‘Were you crying when they cut your hair?’ And it didn’t freak me out at all. I was really happy to do it.”

On getting her nipple pierced for the role: “I’m naked quite a lot in the movie, and I thought, she has it in the book, and she should have it [in the movie]. Because of all the tattoos and the makeup and the piercings, and the physical transformations my body has to go through, it would always feel sort of like I was in costume, even if I was naked. It just felt like a good one to get—a necessary one to get.”

Am I the only one who thought she was really beautiful before 'the makeover'? Especially in The Social Network. I keep hearing the word 'plain' to describe her pre-Lisbeth Salander, and I don't get it. I think she had a girl-next-door type of look.

No, you're not alone.
But I don't think she used to be a girl-next-door, she always looked really delicate for me and had a very specific face.

no no, of course she was pretty but boring, come on she blended with her peers - i can't really remember her on red carpet with SC events. But now - so capiviting. But to be honest i prefer with her with no brows XD i know - weird

I love the white Givenchy dress at the London premiere, she looks stunning, but I agree I wish she would straighten her back and not slouch.

Silly text aside I love the Allure cover, her eyes are hypnotizing, cant wait to see the rest of the pics:flower:. And she knocked it out of the park with the Givenchy couture, not the direction I had expected but totally and completely stunning:heart::heart:, she def made Riccardo proud wearing this. Totally just earned a spot on my best dressed of the year:D

^Thanks, Dora :)
imo the inside pics are better than the cover, I don´t like the angle... I think it would have been better a front close up.

I'm really impressed by this ladder.
It reminded me of the one scene of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

But I'm not found of the whole shoot.

I was googling John Galliano Spring 2012, and found this photo of Miranda Kerr. I think she looks kinda like Rooney here — because of hairstyle, of course

Rooney Mara arrives for the premiere of the movie ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ at the Sergel theatre in Stockholm, on December 13, 2011.

Another hit! She's wearing Roksanda Ilincic, by the way.

I like that she´s wearing pants :)
the makeup seems sloppy...

She's getting excellent reviews so far for TGWTDT with many saying she has bettered the performance by Noomi Rapace.

Oooh la la la
I love that she opted for a jumpsuit!! And it looks she's wearing some kind of headscarf no ??
I can't wait to see how the promo tour is going turn out because she's really starting with a blast.

^It does look like she's wearing a headscarf.

Interesting article about Roksanda dressing Rooney for last night's premiere.

Another day, another stellar red carpet gown for our new favourite fashion crush (and 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' star) Rooney Mara. The actress appeared at the film’s premiere in Stockholm last night wearing a covered-up but revealing, dramatic but demure jumpsuit from Roksanda Ilincic's Resort 2012 collection. *Round of applause please!*

This fashion triumph follows hot on the heels of her ethereally spooky white Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci couture gown (keep in mind that the only other ladies to wear such luxurious pieces are the likes of Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova and Carine Roitfeld) for the London premiere earlier this week. It's clear Rooney's turning into a red carpet triumph.

The pale but interesting Rooney and her rebellious dress sense for after-dark A-list moments actually reminds us of Roksanda herself. So what does the designer think of Rooney wearing one of her designs? ‘It was wonderful to see Rooney in my Resort 12 jumpsuit for such a high profile appearance. She looks amazing and effortlessly cool. The jumpsuit is the perfect fit and compliments her character both on and off screen,’ Roksanda told Grazia Daily this morning. And we think the designer might be a fan of the movie, which sees Rooney play an expert hacker whose abandoned by the state and seeks her own revenge. 'I've always been interested in darkness – it’s a very London fashion thing, turning something ugly into something really quite beautiful,' Roksanda has said of her love for moody and troubled movies.

Rooney’s another lady in a long-line of recent Roksanda wearers that include everyone from Amber Heard to Lady Gaga. 'I design for all types of women, whether someone’s older and wants to be smart and classic to a really fashion forward girl who wants to experiment with colour – I like to create something for all sorts of women,' says Roksanda. Here's hoping Rooney's paying attention to that…
