Bonjour, mes amis. We are approaching a climax in this week's competition. I am very excited about all the entries and looking forward to picking a winner. There are still several of you I'd love to hear from. Aquarius? Piep? Gius? Estella? Angie? Strawberry? Songbird? Come on, all you beautiful artists. Give me something to think about.:flower:

(mal.adroit, yours is a favourite of mine, i adore the clean lines and the expression... if you ever illustrate a comic, i'll buy it!)
....well, i didn't think i'd get to include a flag into my drawings one day, but there are always surprises:p

hehe, I know what you mean about the flag, estella...

GBArt, I have an idea since two days, but have to finish sth before. You are judging tomorrow evening, don't you? i think i will manage to do it... I'll at least, or will let you know otherwise.

sorry, GB, I won't make it this time... i have been at the desk the whole day and am now really tired...

But you were a great Moderator this week!

First of all let me thank all of you for the wonderful entries this week. I am deeply moved. Heather Bratton was a major emerging talent, and I regard your efforts as a noble tribute to her life and work. Heather combined what I think of as the best sensibilities of radical street fashion and classic haute couture, and she had unique spiritual qualities that resonated with the highest ideals of humanity and beauty. She was at the same time utterly bold and courageous yet infinitely gracious, subtle, and gentle. She had all the electricity and power of the most radical grunge video combined with a refined sense of classicism that would have wowed even the incomparable Cristobal Balenciaga. It wouldn't have mattered where she was from, and I would still feel the same way about her. But I am very proud that she was an American. The fact that she was wearing a ghostly American flag in one of the last major shows of her life, just hieghtens the stunning irony of her death, and I am devastated by the loss to the entire artistic and fashion community. Therefore, I really cannot tell you what it means to me that you have responded so brilliantly to this week's challenge.

MUXU- Fantastic job. I am familiar with your work from the TFS Art Gallery, and you are definitely a gifted artist. Your sense of line and curve is stunning, and it is obvious that your sense of color is no less awesome. Keep up the great work!

Mal.Adroit--- As has been pointed out previously, the simplicity and elegance of your line drawings is stunning. Your fine line work and attention to detail is truly amazing. Thanks again for weighing in this week!

JR1--- This one makes me smile. The hair and the hat and the attitude are awesome. It's pure Heather. I also love the way you have "surrealized" the runway lights. Fantastic!

DanieLevi--- You, my friend, are doing some very interesting work. The great challenge of our day is to combine the great artistic traditions and sensibilities of the past with the modern effects of electronic digital art, and I think you are doing a great job. Your take on the hair and the hat and the attitude is also wonderful. And as pointed out by another poster, your treatment of the runway lighting is fantastic.

truebluejen--- I think you are mistaken. Even though it is a quick sketch, I find that it has all the elements of a complete composition. The line work is delicate and fine and the colors are powerful and appropriate to the overall feel. What gets me is the sense of movement.

two_months_off--- Stark, powerful, beautiful. This is not a child. This is a woman in full possession of herself. I love it.

Estella_Mare--- Your work is amazing. The graceful and effortless lines and haphazard sense of color and form belie a deeply powerful and driven talent. I am in awe.

Avant_Garde
--- A stunning piece. I think it LOOKS more like Heather really looked than any other entry. Of course, I love it.

Now comes the hard part. I really like them all, but if I must choose, I'm going to go with my heart. This week's winner of the RUNWAY ILLUSTRATION WEEKLY art slamdown IS........

:woot:Thank you so much! I really didn't expect to win, the other entries were so amazing. Well done everyone!

Ok, I have decided to go for my favourite f/w show, Alexander McQeen. I've chosen quite a simple piece, but the intricate detail in the dress and the hair should make interesting and beautiful drawings:)
