OK, it's about that time.
First off, I love the entries, and this one is really hard. Each piece has it's own strengths and it's hard to pick which of the strengths I like the most.
I originally wanted to pick something bad about each piece, just to give a little constructive criticism and push people a bit, but you people have left me without a stick to shake at you. And that's a damn fine thing, I might add.
So, here we go:
MUXU -- This is great! I love the ? in the bright spot and the lines pull my attention at it. The way the lines go from folds in the fabric and then into the ground is clever too, it first reminded me of electrical schematics and how they use a similar symbol to denote grounding of a wire.
soscalls -- I'm loving the stippling effect, this is something I always avoid doing because my patience wears thin, but the effect is spectacular, and spot on as far as shading goes.
SandraJH -- I'm attracted the harsh draping lines, this would've carried itself well in black and white, and the colors remind me of when I was a child and had say... 5 crayons and none of them were realistic to what I was coloring, so my Hot Wheels books had green tires and yellow roads and such.
GBArt -- Tsk! Tsk! LOL I understand, and you're excused. And damn you for going to France.
mirrra -- You should banned from this game! BANNED! I love your paper doll, and what blew me away the most what the juliusSS07 type, you are far damn crafty! And clever type usage PULLS at my eyes! I'm seriously going to start asking you for your files to dissect, I'm f-ing dumbfounded.
republicofstyle -- Makeup? Holy sh!t, that's determination! I've always wanted to do a portrait with makeup, but never got around to it, nor am I comfortable buying it. LOL I'm digging on the contrast of a couple curvy lines with the straight ones, and the straight lines remind of slash-style hot rod pinstriping.
I REALLY appreciate the effort that obviously went into each of these pieces, and I admire the creativity you all have at interpreting the piece. It's always amazing to see how many different ways a simple (bad) picture is seen. These are all so good that I have decided to pick the winner based on effort involved. So, without anymore ego-stroking (you all deserve it), I pass the pencil to...
soscalls! This was so hard too, but stippling has always been something I wish I had the patience to do.
I can't wait to see what's next and all of your next pieces. And soscalls, I'd like to see you do your own piece too.
