Sabato De Sarno - Designer

Ads like this loool , it legit looks like a random dept store ad. I give this guy max 2 years. Neither is this glamorous, neither is it aspirational or cool. I never thought Gucci would be this boring.

Dazed × Gucci.

How was in charge of the ad campaign...a youtube influencer??? Mother of god...!

Nice legs, but more fits into JWA's Loewe than Gucci!

Im speechless how bad this is!!!!!! The “video” especially - looks worse than some randomest guy’s tik tok who is showing off their h&m new “fit” lol

yeah that actually nails it.

I don't hate that Gucci collection but it's rather....whelming. Expecting a second Michele-style (but with a different aesthetic) revival of Gucci within less than a decade was a very tall order and I think the S/S 2024 collection was interesting enough to make me want to look at whatever he does next season in the hope that it'll be better, it's just not the jolt that Gucci A/W 2015 was.

The issue with the Gucci reboot under Sabato is that it's absolutely directionless. The jewellery campaign with Werbowy and the lipstick red colour say "Saint Laurent". The runway show says "Valentino". The Valigera and Horsebit campaign say "JW Anderson". A tenure starting off like this is a very bad sign. Gucci may be a corporate brand, but it's nowhere near the size to pull the "Italian Louis Vuitton" card.

this campaign is another (bad) joke from Gucci. Is it also styled by Alistair McKimm or it's just as bad styling by a different team? lol
also the video — who signed off on this!?!?!
who's next Gucci designer?????? this guy has got to go . now.
will check with guys at Kering who's next.... stay tuned!

that's true, I didn't really consider the jewellery campaign with Daria to be a signifier of what was to come with the clothes because, well, there weren't any lol.

The show on its own was not a bad start, I don't mind the overall vibe of it (though, as I said.....whelming), but all the campaigns that have come out after really seem to be going for some blend of Michele/JWA Loewe in terms of vibe, like that tacky-kitsch choice of celebs and photography? Deffo looks like desperately casting about for a choice of image. Whether he lasts will probably depend on what Kering wants - yet another major revival and seriously upward profits, or just someone to keep things steady.

Also that oxblood dark red colour is something I've always associated with Ferragamo, which isn't as huge and buzzy as current Gucci but have they now ditched the classic red to go with a different shade under Maximillian Davis? All these flips and flops...

Gucci’s new eveningwear collection by De Sarno was unveiled last night in Los Angeles at a red carpet event:

More from the collection:

Titled “Ancora Notte,” the 12-piece gown collection features details that nod to the Gucci archives. Namely, De Sarno reimagined cutouts, micro-shorts, and lace inserts, all of which harken back to some of the codes born during the 1990s.
