Just wondering, do you think the title of the editorial was a pun? A play on words and the editor actually meant “the eyes(h)ore”
The drop in sales was a mixture of a) the economy at the moment, b) the lack of strong and discernible vision, and c) the aggressive increase in prices.

Case in Point:

GUCCI

Even Valentino does not have those kind of price points (for equivalent designs and fabrics) :

VALENTINO
Exactly…

You have 0 hype yet you increase the prices like if you were Chanel?

I think Cantino is even more responsible of the flop than Sabato himself. Of course everything starts with the fashion shows, but the strategy they took was an absolute nonsense. I might go to Pinault one of these days and will let him know I can save Gucci. I think it’s really easy 🫣

Cantine joined Gucci recently.
The issue first was Bizzarri who hired Sabato. Then when he left, they hired an interim CEO who was completely clueless because his position wasn’t secure.

The issue first comes from Bizzarri. When Michele left, they had the opportunity to really focus on the strategy of the house. What’s the point to have a marketing and merchandising team if they aren’t delivering anything.

Wow you are so right, to me it’s been like a year. That’s crazy tbh. Only 4 months.

I could write an essay on that... I can't get too in details for the sake of anonymity but so many of these marketing people are so deeply incompetent. If you don't have a strong CD with a proper vision, you sure won't find any help in the marketing department because those people are usually busy trying to apply those lifeless recipe they learnt at school. Obsessed with instant data, never with long term vision.

Likewise with collection merchandisers!!

100000000 % on point

I wonder if Cantino and the Kering board would even consider how much it would cost them to hire and keep Hedi (if true) as the new creative director VS how much it would cost to pay (and with their dignity) Alessandro to co-design for Gucci while in Valentino instead of risking another image change since Kering owns a stake with Mayhoola anyway.

Guys some real after-runway photos. I think its fair to discuss some designers with sharing their design haha

^^^^^ Ok its beautiful, but is it something we have never seen before? yawn
No it is not beautiful. But it is well made for sure.
The fringed or threaded white papier maché jacquard canvas is very interesting but honestly why waste the idea on a bucket hat and an anorak ?
Also the east-west bamboo bag could be nice but 1) the lucite handle completely cheapens it and 2) the leather look plasticy.
And YSL has definitely won the battle of the wedges for spring-summer, by far.

the 'bamboo' dress was what impressed me the most, and that long coat drapes quite well in reality imo! the ancora maroon leather skirt looks cheap in reality - that really shocked me actually
