Just wondering, do you think the title of the editorial was a pun? A play on words and the editor actually meant “the eyes(h)ore”
The drop in sales was a mixture of a) the economy at the moment, b) the lack of strong and discernible vision, and c) the aggressive increase in prices.

Case in Point:

GUCCI

Even Valentino does not have those kind of price points (for equivalent designs and fabrics) :

VALENTINO
Exactly…

You have 0 hype yet you increase the prices like if you were Chanel?

I think Cantino is even more responsible of the flop than Sabato himself. Of course everything starts with the fashion shows, but the strategy they took was an absolute nonsense. I might go to Pinault one of these days and will let him know I can save Gucci. I think it’s really easy 🫣

Cantine joined Gucci recently.
The issue first was Bizzarri who hired Sabato. Then when he left, they hired an interim CEO who was completely clueless because his position wasn’t secure.

The issue first comes from Bizzarri. When Michele left, they had the opportunity to really focus on the strategy of the house. What’s the point to have a marketing and merchandising team if they aren’t delivering anything.

Wow you are so right, to me it’s been like a year. That’s crazy tbh. Only 4 months.

I could write an essay on that... I can't get too in details for the sake of anonymity but so many of these marketing people are so deeply incompetent. If you don't have a strong CD with a proper vision, you sure won't find any help in the marketing department because those people are usually busy trying to apply those lifeless recipe they learnt at school. Obsessed with instant data, never with long term vision.
