I love her ability to make intricate pieces look so deceivingly average on the catwalk. The skirts as usual are one of a kind.

Another great collection from her! And, yes, the skirts are probably the best I've seen from Fashion Week. It's really too bad we can't get to see the backs of the looks for now. Each outfit looks completely different from the backview.

She really is so underrated. Great volumes, colors, cutting, silhouettes. This is what modern girlishness should look like. There's a certain feminine strength, but at the same time a playfulness, especially upon seeing these clothes in motion.

this is one of those brands where i always love the tops and find the bottoms a bit overwrought and mostly unwearable...
too much volume around the waist and hip area to be flattering on most...

the shoes make me smile...
but they are more successful in certain colours than others...

Cast with rigour - sweet clone army. Girly, pure, uniformy. But spliced with zips, folds and splits. Not to be attempted probably by anyone over 30. Or was that 16. You could see this in Tokyo or on Japanese girls in London. Minimalised Harajuku lolita cosplay pushed back to school codes. Actually there are pieces/ looks for a woman here. in that same way that maturity can classily do a MiuMiu collection which can feel young too.

I don't necessarily see this collection as being a "Japanese" collection simply by virtue of the designer being Japanese, just as you wouldn't call Alber Elbaz's Lanvin "Moroccan" or "Israeli" or Hussein Chalayan's work as "Turkish" or "Cypriot" because of their heritage. This seems to carry instead the fashion codes of Margaret Howell and Mary Quant, the natural progression of the modern girlishness introduced by Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo while at Chloe. True, lolita fashion (which is not necessarily cosplay) has much of its roots in Victoriana, but Sacai stands in stark contrast to the superficiality, regresssion, and cultural insularity inherent in that particular style. These are clothes of actual substance, not costumes.

So I don't see this as fashion simply designed with Tokyo and Japanese girls in mind. I certainly hope the appeal is much less hidebound than that.

Beautiful collection, and the skirts, like you said, are amazing, as lame as it sounds I really think this is the season of the statement skirt.
