I'm bitter because Melanie Laurent had the best performance of the year and has been completely over-looked.

Die Hard QT fan here so yeah I want it to win the BP Oscar but I enjoyed Up in the Air and I'm trying to see the others like An Education. I DO NOT want Avatar to win. .

. Diane Kruger has been working hard making the rounds for all these awards, getting her face and name out there. Melanie is nowhere to be seen. She showed up for the Globes, but failed to stand out because she came out wearing her bed sheet.
I absolutely adored her in that movie, but it's her own damn fault that she's being overlooked. Diane Kruger has been working hard making the rounds for all these awards, getting her face and name out there. Melanie is nowhere to be seen. She showed up for the Globes, but failed to stand out because she came out wearing her bed sheet. With Inglourious Basterds doing so well with the awards, it was her moment to make a statement, become noticeable. Alas, she didn't use it. I know it may not be fair, but it's the truth. Sometimes you have to work the system a bit to get what you want, publicity is at least as important as the performance itself. I guess she doesn't want a career in Hollywood, it's her own choice, but I don't feel bad for her.
Nominations aren't based on how many interviews you do or at how many events you show up to but on a single performance in a movie and how this part is being campaigned by the studio.
