vogue.comSarah Jessica Parker Has the Fashion Girl’s Alternative to Basic Black Tights
Sarah Jessica Parker has a thing for shine, and has made next-level sparkle a signature detail in her eponymous shoe line. Even when she’s not wearing her crystal-covered designs, she’s finding ways to stand out, like today when she exchanged basic black tights for a fishnet glitter version to appear on Good Morning America in New York.
Kendall Jenner is also a fan of unexpected hosiery, wearing hers with Daisy Dukes—though Parker proved they work just as well with demure pieces. That meant a quirky dress spliced with two different prints, and a third similar pattern turning up on the edges of her overcoat. The tights were all she needed to take the playful message from head to toe. While her own purple satin shoes may have been a bit much, all things considered, a sturdy woven tote in soft gray was a nice foil to all that shine.
Sarah Jessica Parker Just Pulled a Carrie Bradshaw in New York
For as long as Sarah Jessica Parker has upheld that she is nothing like her most famous on-screen alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw, her wardrobe choices tend to say otherwise. For starters, Parker is almost always wearing a pair of statement shoes from her eponymous line, and more often than not, she will style them in an offbeat way that would have felt right at home on Sex and the City. Lately, the Divorce actress has been having fun with it. Last month, for instance, she wore sparkly tights, and today, she continued on the same path in socks and heels—a combination that Bradshaw was also known to champion.
En route to tape an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers in New York, Parker wore satin pumps of her own design. They weren’t just pink—they were Cosmopolitan pink. The double dose of neon was bold, to say the least, but that didn’t stop her from matching the highlighter-bright hue to a floral-print frock with a Pop Art–inspired swirl. Parker anchored the look with a heavier top layer—a blue velvet blazer that looked remarkably similar to a certain overcoat Bradshaw wore on a park bench with a certain Russian artist in the HBO series’ sixth and final season. Parker accessorized with a glitter-flecked Brunello Cucinelli backpack. It was just the kind of quirky carrier that we imagine Bradshaw would tote if she, like Parker, were to become a Manhattan mom on-the-go.
